In my experience it is always hard to predict the market. You just go ahead with your gut feeling and trade. There will be times that you won’t be on the right side of the market, so the right thing would be to keep the patience high along with the confidence.
Be it using EA or just a trade you open yourself. Do you think you got the edge to be on the right side of the market?

It's hard to tell having an edge from trading with false signals that do not work. But sample of trades from the trading system can definitely give more insights, so I guess no other way except trial and error process
Interesting question. A single trade - be it EA or manual, can test our ability to interpret the markets, but it is all about the probabilities. No one can be right at 100%, but sticking with a properly fine-tuned strategy can help to increase the chance of making a consistency. The "edge" is not just an entry - it is how you manage risk and following that.
The edge is your experience. If you know how to read the markets and have an unlocked mindset you can achieve anything. In a mean reverting market what side you're on is irrelevant.

I fully agree. Many people look for an easy way to trade - i.e. a "mechanical strategy with edge", but the true answer is in your understanding of how the market works and experience.

I agree with you, MStudent. Having an edge does not mean having the perfect strategy, it means understanding the market and risks effectively. The more you practice, the more you get handy with the trading conditions.
