The FFcalendar_CSVtoXML.exe file looks for something in C:\Users\David\.spyder-py3\ so it's normal that it works on your computer.
Could you please compile it again with something like C:\MT5news\ ?

Same issue with FFcalendar_csv_tz_converter.exe so could you please upload the source file so i can check what's wrong ?

My apologies, I believe the problem is that I forgot to upload the 'pennybags avatar.ico' file to my Google drive (here). Both apps look for this file as it provides the little 'Mr Monopoly' icon in the top left corner of the title bar. I've just now uploaded this file to the Google drive. Both .exe apps expect to find this icon file, and also the 'CSV_to_XML_settings.json' file, in the same folder as themselves. Therefore please make sure that you copy all of the relevant files from the Google drive.

I copied the files without the icon file, to a different folder on my PC, ran the app, and got a similar error message to yours. Then I copied the icon file and it worked fine. Please see if this fixes your problem, and let me know if it doesn't, and I'll try something else. But, unless there's something on your PC that I'm unaware of, I'm 99% sure that will be the reason. There's nowhere in the code that explicitly references the '.spyder-py3' folder, which led me to the conclusion that the problem wasn't in the code itself.

I have just now uploaded new versions of the two apps, which now terminate with more 'friendly' and descriptive error messages if the required files aren't found.
Also, the 'pennybags avatar.ico' file should no longer be required.

  1. The latest version of 'FFcalendar_CSVtoXML.exe' can be downloaded from this link on my Google drive.

[EDIT] I've also uploaded new versions of the 'Daylight Saving cutoff dates (xxx).csv' files so that their data should now be good until the Dec 31, 2029 (into the same link as the 'FFcalendar_csv_tz_converter.exe' file).

I've updated the historical FF calendar news files to include the recently ended month of Oct 2024, i.e. news events from Jan 01, 2007 (which is when the FF calendar began) to Oct 31, 2024. For the latest details and download link, please see post #1.

Not sure how many people are still finding the news files useful......

Anyway, my long time programmer/trader friend pips4life has alerted me to a couple of minor glitches in the latest data, specifically that some news events had been repeated (duplicated). I've responded by building duplicates checking in the app, removing any duplicate events from the monthly files, and re-running the app to generate and upload new copies of all of the CSV, XML and ZIP files on my Google drive (here). Please feel welcome to download the corrected versions of these files.

Hello! I have created three Python files to help users work with data. The first file converts a table from a CSV file into a new format, saving it as a new CSV file with the following structure:
ID;ID2;Currency;Date;Time;News;Impact;Actual;Forecast;Previous;Meta1;Meta2;Meta3
12;12;USD;2007-01-01;08:00;Bank Holiday;low;;;;;;
Additionally, I've included a feature to translate abbreviations like "h" (high) and "l" (low) into their full text forms.
I also created a python script that filters the csv by currency. For example, if I select "USD," the script will find all USD-related entries in the CSV file and create a new file containing only USD news.

I've updated the historical FF calendar news files to include all data to the week ended Saturday Dec 31, 2024, i.e. news events from Jan 01, 2007 (which is when the FF calendar began) to Dec 31, 2024.

There are now 18 years' worth of data, a total of 81,978 news events. Many of these files exceed FF's 5MB upload limit, hence they must be downloaded from my Google drive here.

The news events are sorted in both date/time and currency/event description order; timestamped UTC and NYC (UTC-5 in winter, UTC-4 in summer); and in both CSV and XML formats; making a total of 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 files.

This thread remains hidden away here in the commercial section, but everything in it is FREE.

Oops, there was an error in the uploaded data, it included only news events up to Dec 21, 2024. I have rectified this, and uploaded a corrected set of files to the link in the previous post. There are 82,034 news events. Apologies for any inconvenience.

I have been using your news data to run some analysis using python..great stuff i found some correlation of these news and cot with price move.
I understand that you are not sharing how to extract automatically from xml to csv. But could you drop some hint ?
Am a novice coder, still depending very much on GPT.haha..
