How do you usually manage losses? In other words, when a trade goes against you, how do you know when is the best time to accept the loss and move on to the next one?

Wow that was a long slow trade. Got out when MACD started to crossover. Just over 2 hour trade, does not happen often to me anyway.

If a trade goes against me early I get out usually between 4-8 tick loss, If I get a little profit to start say 5-9 ticks and get 2 candles against me I'll get out for less than -5 ticks to B/E, If I get to 15 ticks I'm at B/E at worst, 20 ticks stop to +5. At this point I'm paying attention to Cum. Delta If I get, say a red candles on a long trade but Cum. Delta shows Green I'll stay in a little longer to see if uptrend continues and vice versa. Above trade a good example 2 red candles but green Cum. Delta so I stayed in trade. In past I would've gotten out. Then maybe reentered or not.

A lot of people disagree with me on this but my fist objective on any trade I take is to get to B/E.

Hi Rocky, could you point me in the direction in the thread where you starter using HA candles, MacD and Cumilitive Delta please? I have looked through and i cant see it anywhere? Id like to know the entry criteria etc. Many thanks!

Hi Guys

Just another angle from a Volume guy trading Renko.
Thought I would break down the numbers if you are trading ES on Renko after New York Open.
As you expect, it likes to follow VWAP so that's another tool worth considering using.

A real move on ES is when Delta moves to Positive 500 or more for 15 seconds periods - we get strong Bullish moves with 95% trade success.
A real move on ES is when Delta moves to Negative 500 or more for 15 second periods - we get strong Bearish moves with 95% trade success.

Generally ES runs in 30 second bursts, hitting over 1000 Delta at its climax for no more than 5 seconds or so, then price stalls.
It seems that ES likes to chew through liquidity for around 3x 30 second bursts on average then repeats the process till the move is complete.

The DOM shows us that average liquidity over 10 levels is about 1500 contracts and a Strong Bullish move produces approx. 1700 Asks (Sellers) and only 900 Bids (Buyers) proving that Buyers don't create Bullish trends - ITS SELLERS LIQUIDITY BEING CONSUMED

RickM, with all due respect to you as a person and a trading body of mine and it is just a shop talk.

I will have to call above, a total useless, after the fact, crap.

2 Trade so far on nice easy PA, not too fast not too slow. Quick little move down at open but the consolidation gave me a chance to get in. Second trade still open stop now at +55. Cum. Delta helped keep me in the trade, by showing steady move up.

I like the ES because PA tend to be slower than NQ or YM and Moves are not as big. This lets me use smaller stops which suits my comfort level.

I think RickM is more of a Math/Numbers guy. But it is interesting. If I think too much I get in trouble. But credit where credit is due he has helped my trading.
