After putting the GBPJPY to bed last night (Aus time, lol) I caught the movie Jersey Boys
A picture based on the start & rise of the Four Seasons featuring Franky Valli.

In the movie it mentioned the innocuous song “Short Shorts” (below) was written (in tandem) by Bob Gaudio when he was with the band Royal Teens
(I was hoping to see more short shorts in the clip below but hey, some grand ol’ cars in there was quite nice)

And when Bob G subsequently approached the Seasons to get himself into the band as their main songwriter (on the back of Short Shorts) Bob landed the big one by penning Sherry for them which turned the fortunes for Franky & the band.


Now, it was Bob Crewe from the (B.C. Generation instrumental band) who produced Sherry and it was Bob Crewe who came up with the idea to double-track Franky’s falsettos on the song. End story - big winner for the lads & more successes lay ahead.

The band’s history was not trouble free (I had no idea) but no spoilers for any wanting to watch the movie.
Not the greatest movie of all time imo, but the storyline was quite revealing
(directed by Clint Eastwood. While Franky Valli & Bob Gaudio served as executive producers on the movie also)
