I had a problem with bars not showing in my chart. I contacted NT Support since I purchase bars from them.
Below e-mails show response from NT support. I was never able to fix the issue and I did not get support from NT. I asked them for help to fix the issue, they just closed my ticket. I never was able to use bars I purchased from them.....
I was not sure if I should contact broker to check what datafeed I'm connected to and why I can't load ES 03-24? My chart shows ES MAR24 - the same as yours.
Vidvad's chart show ES 03-24, this is what NT support says should be correct.
After your discovery I start to think if datafeed on my chart shows correctly.

This is the most recent post where I try to give rules. Keep in mind that try as I might to remove all discretion, there is still a bit of "feel" to it. You are probably using rhythmic like rocky and I am using ninjatrader continuum.

Don't sweat the small stuff, tanyam. Focus on learning the method and learning how price action behaves, etc.

I don't know why it would make a difference if it says ES 03-24 or ES mar24. I just updated to latest Ninja trader 8 version. As they suggested. My charts still show ES Mar24. I don't know if possibly that has to do with the exchange you choose. I only have CME with Rithmic data feed.

Makes no difference. At Think or Swim it is called /ESH24

I'm sure the difference is who is owning the data feed.

The only time this is an issue is when there is a big difference between what your charts are showing and what others see. For example, today you had that "untradable" mess that really didn't exist. That was a problem with your data feed I'd presume.

tanyam, go to the connections menu and tell me what your connection is. Are you using rithmic or something else?

You should call Ninjatrader if you are able and ask them how to find the alternative contract listing. I looked myself, and I can't find anything listed as "ES MAR24"

But before we spend anymore time on this here, you should look to see which connection you are using for data. If it is rithmic, then maybe you should change to continuum.

As far as the special bars not working, one issue might be you are trying to load too many days of data, OR, ironically, NOT ENOUGH.

Some custom indicators can only load with 3 days of data or less. Others need 10 days or more.

But for now, you need to identify your connection:

I got a few questions left that I couldn't make out of the current post after reading it a few times. It said that if you have, for example, a green bar and then a red bar then you sell on the opening of the next bar, is this also true if there are 2 or more green bars and then a red bar (for a sell situation where the 8ema low is below the 34ema) or do you then wait for a break of the latest swing low?

I was also wondering what your exit strategy was. I'm not sure, but in my head I remember that it was 25 ticks profit. Do you also have a stop loss condition and could you maybe tell me the difference between a tick profit and a pip profit?

I also saw that you were recommending the ES futures, but my broker currently only has forex, does it work on that as well? If not, I will try and install Ninjatrader like you and rocky have.

I want to do the 10 trade challenge with exactly these rules like you recommended, is it okay if I post them here?

I'm looking for a pullback to sell into for shorts. The pullback could be one green candle or many green candles.

Same goes if looking to get long.

I take +25 tick profit and start at a -20 tick stop loss. Once two candles close in the direction of my trade stop foes to -13 ticks. Once the trade is +13 - +15 ticks in my favor, I move the stop loss to +2 ticks.

Thanks, that is quite clear!

Do you think this works on forex in MetaTrader as well? Could you maybe explain the difference between a pip and a tick? I saw on internet that 1 pip is 10 ticks, is that correct or does it work a bit different?

I guess Rocky is leaving people to make up their own mind. However in viewing his charts over a period of time "I think" if the ADX is just below -25 and obviously rising and everything else looks good, he takes the trade.

Each data feed has own futures symbols. Here you can find .xls file with explanation.

I know @Libocop has posted several times in this thread a template for use with Metatrader. I don't know if it was for MT4 or MT5 or if he had one for both. If you search the thread you should find it.

As far as forex versus futures, may I Make a suggestion?

If so, then I offer that I have traded both spot forex and US exchange listed futures, and I would recommend to anyone who wants to become a consistently profitable day trader to stop trading forex, get off MT4, and trade futures. If you live in a country where Ninjatrader brokerage is open to you, then I'd suggest you waste no more time with forex, and get yourself a Ninjatrader demo account, set up the rocky template, and get to work observing and learning the system and how to trade it.

Pip vs tick? Each is the minimum price movement made by an instrument. For forex, that minimum is a pip (or it used to be as now they even have tenths of pips). For futures, the smallest price movement is a tick. If you are trading forex futures, for example, the 6B, which is the GBPUSD futures, some might still refer to the movement from 1.2612 to 1.2613 as one pip. But American futures traders would call that movement one tick.

Does it matter? I can't see that it does other than it makes it easier to communicate with one another if we use the same word.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am going to try and make a SIM account on Ninjatrader. If you and rocky are using it, it must have something good. What do you think is better about futures than forex?

And if you are in the UK you can trade with TradeStation ( Use Tradeview chart maybe and linked via Tradeview to Tradestation) and NOT pay data fees -level one.
Check with them on their chat facility.
Daytrade margin may be higher than the likes of AMP Futures etc.

I'm guessing that you are very new to the trading game so don't rush things. This is not get rich quick and it sure isn't easy money until you settle on a methodology and then spend weeks and months and even years getting better and better at the craft of trading.

The main superiority of futures to forex is simply this: With futures, the trades take place on a regulated exchange where everyone everywhere sees the same bid and ask and the little guy is treated no differently than the whale. Forex the bid and ask you see is set by your broker, not the marketplace. Your orders are filled, if at all, however the broker wants them filled. Forex is a rigged game.
