not if you get caught with a large eur/usd position with no stop and your platform crashes and your broker wont answer the phone. might give you a heart attack.

Anytime one is making money while performing a function it is good for the health. Avoiding the stress of not being able to pay your bills is obviously good for your health.

However, if one is laboring to no avail and in fact is losing money then due tgo the buildupo of stress it can't help but adversely affect his health.

So then, trading is not good for the health of 90-95% of all traders.

Does this mean that if a large signal provider gets a "temporary setback" you can call it an epidemic?

Interesting question. I can see where trading would be high on the stress factor, but a lot of other jobs are stressful as well. Being a fireman, policeman, or lawyer would probably produce comparable levels of stress as does trading.

I'm a medical student and I feel that medicine is one of the most stressful careers around. I actually feel less stress while trading my live account than I do at certain times on the wards. The best part is that if you're a good trader, you have a great deal of free time to relieve a lot of that stress with hobbies and/or physical activity. Medicine doesn't afford such opportunities until you're about 10 years in practice.

AHH you have nailed it.. so many people wonder, when should i go live?

Go live when you can place trades and not feel any anxiety what so ever.. a good trade effects you the same as one going against you does.. just is what it is. Another day in the shop.

i agree, although it takes that feeling away...

i, on a normal basis, have a high pulse, perhaps in the 90 beats per minute area. when i first started trading my pulse would spike up to 150 +/-. six months later and i am barely breaking a 110 pulse, if that.

i like the feeling, although accrued losses are not worth the feeling, hence i need a new avenue to pursue the feeling. a more cost effective method, so to speak.

interesting question...I developed stomach problems while trading options. Every now and then, I feel very ill when I am under a lot of stress.

Trading is healthy for my account which keeps going up.

But, trading might be unhealthy for me...

- my hemerroids act up when I sit too long
- my fingernails are cracked from tapping my fingers on the hard desk so much
- my bladder is weak from waiting so long for that perfect exit on my hedge trade
- my ears hurt from my wife repeatedly telling me that it's time for supper and aren't you going to come already?
- my eyes go crosseyed. I see double when I stare at the screen too long. Oh, wait! I forget I have a multi-screen display.
- I feel disoriented most of the time. Is is 930GMT or is it 930 EST or am I short 1.9930 on G/U?

Do I see a trend here?

i found the worst thing was my insomnia...I consider myself to be a night owl with a mild case of insomnia. But, with trading it is nearly impossible for me to fall asleep well. Watching 4 monitors with charts, and numbers and all kinds of shit flashing is like being in my own mini casino. So when I go to put my head down it just continues in my eyes. I have found that about 30 mins before i plan on going to bed(around 4am eastern). I turn off 3 of my 4 monitors to lessen the intensity. It has helped.

Since starting trading, I can't remember the last time I slept more then 6 hours straight(unless heavily intoxicated the night before of course )

In the past I've been a reasonably poor trader, and every time I discovered another loss I'd go for a long walk/cycle ride/angry gym hour. Even losing money can be good for you.

My last engineering job was in a psychotic environment. Corruption, lack of integrity and ethics in management, backstabbing, rude people etc.

I went to the doctor more in 2 years than I had in the previous 20 years. The first time I asked for a bunch of tests. I thought I had mad cow or something, but each time I went back he just said it was stress and wanted to give me happy pills, which I repeatedly refused.

Then when I got a direct manager who was totally nuts, I quit, and so did everyone else that worked for him. Unlike me, the others were smart enough to get another job first. That manager was forced to leave the company.

After being off for about a year I felt like being productive again and got seriously into trading.

The stress is very high at times, but it is a picnic compared to that job. None of the physical manifestations have returned.

So I voted YES!
