Hi Phil,
I followed your directions to input the SMAAngle.ex4 into MT4: I went to program files, MT4, experts, indicators and pasted in the SMAAngle. Ex4. (I could then see it was pasted there). Then I went to MT4, navigator, indicators, custom indicators to find the SMAAngle but it was not there. What did I do wrong? Could it be because I originally downloaded the MT4 to my desktop?

Hello Jbone, please save the attachment on my post of the template of Phillip 5Min system under your MT4 platform under template.

After you save it under template, close your platform and open it again and look on the top right icon of your platform where it show template and you will find the template name 5minzone.tpl, click and load it and you will see all the setup of Phillip including the SMAAngle.

I am impressed with the success you have with this 5min system. I was just wondering, do you keep a journal of your trades?

I do keep an Excel spreadsheet of my trades. Separate for demo and live trades.

When I am back in South Africa (on Wednesday), I'll post my format. Currently I am using my mobile phone and some hotspots/wireless access to read this thread when I do have a change/access.

I would be interested in the outcome of all your trades so far.

Thanks for your response. I am confuzed. I was not aware the SMAAngle needed the 5minzone.tpl. Is it needed so it will show up in the custom indicators, or for the SMAAngle to work, or to both show up in custom indicators and to work? Phil did not mention the template in the directions he prepared for me. BTW, is the 5minzone.tpl (4.6KB) the same as 5 min intradraday method.tpl (1.9KB)? If not, what is the difference? Do I need them both?

Well , firstly I have had the chance to work in a real banks dealing room, and can fully understand that market spread can and will be variable, since this is the case in the interbank market. However I never have seen the interbank market spread anything like you can get with retail brokers.

As for OANDA, I am sure that their spread policy has been discussed to death elsewhere on this forum, so I wont take away from this thread by having a whinge about broker spreads, but this is their policy when it comes to spreads:

"During periods of high volatility such as a news event spreads can be temporarily widened to reflect liquidity issues in the market."

So keep in mind when trading this system during news time with any variable spread broker, you may be on the right side of the market, but could still be taken out due to an abnormally large spread.

I'm sorry to get off subject a little, but my chart for the Euro doesn't look like yours, and I'm wondering if I have a problem. Is your chart displaying GMT time? If you wouldn't mind, can you tell us the times in GMT that you entered and exited the trade? I'm posting a screenshot of my chart right now. I may have a data feed issue.

My displayed time is GMT+1. I just asked CMC Markets if I can modify the displayed time (to display GMT instead of GMT+1) but I doubt it I can modify it.

I have a general question for all of you: do you programs have trailing stop and if they do, do you use it?

I wish I have it but I don't have it ...

1057 GMT. Maybe will try possible short on G/U. Will have to see how this retracement pans out. Some support from strong upmove from USDCHF.

1125 GMT. The retracement with big bars so invalidated the trade.
