My own account (and around 5-10 other users) got hacked recently. Personally i think it started from an attachment a well known respected member shared around 2 weeks ago. I downloaded it back then. When opened it triggered some CMD command, probably to download other trojans. Virusscan showed nothing until a week ago, then it began showing “wacatac” trojans. Quarantined but the damage was already done with them stealing various login information. Changed all pw’s and hoping its solved..

Anyway, im sure it will continue to spread for a bit because they use all hacked accounts to spread this nasty trojan. Just be extra cautious before dl’ing any non mq/ex attachment.

This is VERY troublesome! Could you share more details on these attacks? (i.e: detailed antivirus reports, which files you have downloaded, who is this member you suspect from), that'll help a lot!

I recommend everybody to download Kaspersky security and keep it up and running just in case.

There was 4 different new users last week trying to attach a few files and I believe if you back through the forum pages you might find them.

Thanks, I saw a few warnings and signs of removed files in older posts, however some of them may still be up.

If anyone knows of any dangerous files that are still attached to the thread I can try to analyze/delete them manually.

they caught it quickly and acted with haste to minimize the problem TWEE and staff knocked it on the head quickly , very professional people , so who was the well known respected member

The attachment in that first OP post ran the troublesome CMD. Abok also claimed that he himself got hacked and that these topics/posts were not made by him.

under the circumstances it was a swift response - allowing it to be distributed on a public forum is inconceivable though especially after realising it has happened and is happening - many threads were affected, not just this one...

anyway, it should be obvious to most, do not install anything from an untrusted source, and my advice to the people running this place is to block ALL archive formats from being attached or at the very least, HAVE THEM SCANNED before making them available, simple really!
