I'm slowly working out some of the behaviour of eurusd-thijs's EA.

When I started using it it seemed that the M5 candle produced too many trades (but maybe not, I haven't used it enough to be sure) and so I tried M30, H1 and even H4 as the trigger candle. Remember that the trigger candle is the one that must open on the 'wrong' side of the fast EMA, and close on the trend side of it.

I originally wanted H4 because that is my trading TF and I know that when a bar starts one side of the EMAs and closes outside of them (on the trend side), it is often a good place to enter. But H4 is not a good idea because H4 candles can be too long, as in this example. The EA followed the rules perfectly, but the candle is very long (98 pips) and price is far away from the mean, so of course there is going to be a pullback. But using H4 does reduce the number of trades. So somewhere between M5 and H4 is probably right, the sweet spot. For now I'm thinking it is M30.

Another option is to set a limit to how long the trigger candle can be, eg 0.5 of ATR. In this example, ATR is about 55 pips, so 0.5 of that would mean any candle that is more than about 27 pips would be ignored as a trigger. Then we could use any TF for the trigger candle, which might be an improvement for the EA.

here a buy is triggered because the candle opened below and closed above the ema line and the buy was openend above the close of the trigger candle. But one could wait till the candle after the trigger candle is bullish and opens and closes above the ema line and then enter when bid price
is above the close of that second candle.

eurusd-thijs, I'm not sure if the trailing stop is working. Here are some images to show what I have. I pulled the SL a long way down so that it becomes very clear if the TS is working or not. For the last 4 or 5 hours it has not moved.

I would also like the TS to start working immediately and not to wait for the trade to go into profit. or a fractal to be on the profit side of the open. Would it be possible to create an option for that?

This one is very likely going to be a loser. My mistake, I should have set the EA to Sell only

Just so I am clear about the TS.

1. With pips set to zero it will not move faster but will follow the fractals as before, is that correct?
2. With the Fractal trailing default set to true it will wait until price is in profit and (if I understand it correctly) at least one fractal has appeared in the profit zone?
3. With the Fractal trailing set to false it will start moving the SL immediately according to the appearance of new fractals. Is that correct?
4. And a question I should have asked before, the TS does not trail the most recently formed fractal, but the one behind that. Is that correct?

it is all as before with zero but when put a high number it will move the fractal stop to last fractal although maybe not in profit
it uses always the last dn or up fractal

if you dont want use the fractal button on screen then "Use Fractal trailing default" should be in true.
I myself have it in false and activate the trailing then with the button on the right upper side of the screen.

Hope this modification does not cause the expert to ask at the broker to move stoploss above bidprice in case of buy.

Good morning, testing different configurations.

Really don't want to interfere but instead of open (on one side) and close (on the "other", the right side), you may think about
high (on one side) and close (on the sell side) -
low (on one side) and close (on the buy side) -
it will give you more and sometimes better entries (which hopefully are all working out for you).

Yes, mostly, but it depends on the specific trades.

It took a while but this trade that was going to be a loser and the USDJPY trade that had a very long trigger candle and also looked in trouble are both back to B/E or very close. The power (not that lines on a chart have any power at all, but you get what I mean ...) the power of the three EMAs aligned on 3 TFs seems almost irresistible. I'm amazed at how well this is working. I'm thinking we should try to name it, might go down in trading history as the one that broke the bank . How about 3x3 for a name? Not grand enough, even though that's basically what it is.

But that warning again - just as we get excited and start going big, it stops working and trashes our account.
