I thought MAC address was unique for each device.

-For the most part, they are, but depending on what sort of data is getting passed through (or not) by the VPS provider, or similar, then that data could resolve to the server. MAC addresses can be spoofed, too, but I do not think that traders are doing that.

The problem with flagging accounts that use the same VPS service is multi-fold:

1. The firm can use this as justification for banning any trader that they do not like, without taking on too much negative PR, by claiming 3rd-party involvement.
2. Without these measures, traders could use 3rd-party services to trade for them via VPS and make the claim that they are trading for themselves.
3. Traders that are blacklisted or from blocked countries could pay people to open accounts for them and trade via VPS.
4. Legitimate traders that understand the value of (or have a need for) trading via VPS (or cloud-based trade copier?) are at risk of getting flagged without doing anything wrong.

It seems that TFF has shown on multiple occasions what their priorities truly are, and they seem to be standing firm on that. Traders should be warned and tread cautiously.

Hey guys, if you had to choose between a 2 phase 100K account from The Funded Trader Plus and 2 phase 100K from My Funded FX, which one would you choose?

My Funded Fx as it does not have relative drawdown on phase 2, The Funded Trader Plus is having relative drawdown on all challenges.

Luckily I have always considered all props to always have relative drawdown rules only.
If the dd wasn't a factor then which one?

hey ot.... is there a reason for limiting the choice between only those 2.....

rule out the dollars and cents of it...... it usually takes about 500 bucks to take a shot at the 100k .... 500 is not that much money.....

there were several vocal people around here today with dozens of trades losing 10's of 1000's ..... one probably lost 100k....

if we look in the mirror and think about the number of 500$ losing trades we have had over the years, the cost of that 100k challenge almost seems like a laughable bargain ......

beware of laughable bargains......
//-----

the best approach might be to take the 500 and double or triple it first in an oanda 50:1 account...... 50:1...... 0.01 lots...... perhaps 60 to 90 days...... 10$ a day.....

the discipline required to double an account with 0.01 lots almost assures passing the challenge.....

then, at the appropriate time, take 500 and roll the dice.....

if you fail, big deal...... just think of all those past losing 500 trades we had...... keep that 500$ oanda account rolling......

another thing to keep in mind, is that many are copying signals.... don't expect to match their results.....

and yeah, i remember your fondness of oanda........ lol.......h
to trade and code, keep both simple... no call to impress....h

A VPS can not share the IP. Every VPS has a unique IP address.
What you can do in a VPS is run multiple instances of MT4 or MT5 portable, exactly the same as you can do in your own PC. You access the VPS with Remote Desktop and work on it in the same way as you work on your own PC.

This is not the same as shared hosting where you can lodge many websites with a single IP address and the domain name determines where the site is.

yes, very good point but there is something about losing that isn't pleasant even if you are super loaded. I can drop $200 on a dinner with someone and not bat an eye but if I lose my pen (that I probably lifted from work anyway), I feel the loss because it wasn't planned or intended. It makes things worse if I lose it to one of these talent-less easy money gobbling outfits. So, it is the principal, not the money.
I liked the Old Oanda when Mr. Stumm was in charge and leverage was 200:1.

BTW, did you end up signing up with any firm?

I was referring more to the types like MQL5's VPS, where you don't have an RDP connection or they have a web portal to access instead of a dedicated RDP IP, and those are more like shared web hosting. I used to use MQL5's VPS quite a bit because it was so darn quick and simple for just 1 or 2 accounts, but also quite buggy it turns out.

no, never did...... gave topstep a try once a few years ago completed phase 1 but timed out on phase 2..... we were working 14 hours a day, 7 days a week..... 1 day off a month......

losses have never concerned me in the least..... have often wondered why that is...... but there is no way i could spend $200 on dinner...... not as long as taco bell has that dollar menu...... and only once a month there.....

might sign up now though...... decided to drag up at work last month...... for good this time.....

Just wanted to drop in and give a big shout-out to true forex funds,,,

I started trading with this company in April, passed phase 1 and 2 fairly quickly and with no issues,,

As soon as I passed I received my funded account within the next day and started trading..

Conditions to trade were exactly as expected and spreads were super low as they were in the challenge phase..

The website is great looking and functions as it should with a hateful of information at hand to keep a close eye on your trading journey.

The main focus for me once funded was to get my first payout and use the refund to start another challenge, so once I hit 1% I stopped trading the account. Payout was after only 2 weeks of opening the account and arrived within 2 days into my deal account.

I would highly recommend this prop firm, I believe they also have cTrader platform arriving soon which was one of the biggest factors in joining this company.

I'm looking forward to growing my account and hopefully many more payouts to come very soon.

I don't know the MQL5's VPS, I think they use a control panel.
I have a VPS rented from a German company for more than 20 years. I use it for a couple of websites and for the last couple of years also for trading. For trading all you have to do is install MT4/MT5, same procedure as in your desktop PC. It works well with up to 6 instances of MT4/MT5.

I've been working in financial marketing for a couple of years and, if I wanted to construct a prop marketing pitch, I probably couldn't do it this good.

One round of applause for True Forex Funds Marketing team!

Was just thing the same exact thing. I love everyone's first post explaining how wonderful a particular prop firm is. FTMO is famous for it. Never been here before, participated in the discusion, asked for advice/experience. Nope, just spun the wheel, it landed on TFF and he has an amazing experience.
Yep, likely story.
