Pink area is London.

Beige area is US. The time covered is from 0800 to 1055 EST (EDT uses the same hours.). That's 1300 to 1555 GMT. Which I believe is your current time. and the time my charts are set to (mt5 pain in the a..).

The channel line is along Al-Bs stuff. He likes price to overlap farther along and does not look for perfection (at least that what he says) and I take that a tiny bit further.
I am a firm believer in the nuclear bomb theory of close is good enough.

Now to this subject ...

You read what I meant. Market structure. I have trouble seeing what I want/need to see on the 1-minute. And that is very important. Comfy thing and all.

I can not lie. Those entries made me cringe.

It's not you. My psyche forces much more stringent parameters, hence the focus on very specific patterns (though I have widened the patterns some, the entries are still the same). As far as very similar entries, one that works, one that fails, is more due to where (location) in the overall structure it occurs.
Add in the fact that I am a short-term trader - at least that is how each trade starts out as - and I look for small DD entries.

Another factor in the various entry styles would be your personal learning process in regard to entries (as it is to every aspect). My background includes a few years learning a system I could never master. Even so, a lot of good came from that as there are some aspects I can still use to this day.

I will bring this to a close for now - there is a cat who has decided now is attention time ...

In the past I have occasionally used Heiken Ashi candles. But not in a scalping method. Any thoughts.. ?

Dax roundup. Dax open did its' usual thrash. Note the consolidation zeppelin prior to 8am open UK time.After 8an UK open Price bounces from strong asian consolidation area. And a failed long from there , then a successful long from a bounce from same area on 14200 number. Short from 15250 area noting level of consolidation to the left and channel break. Missed a possible long on channel break around 14225? Short from same area saw price come back and stop me out - then turned short without me

It all depends on how you approach it. When I first started this adventure that is the way I approached it. As I have evolved and improved my short-term PA reading, I got more into the SP500 futures. The nature and cost of the SP500 leads me to short term trading. It could be considered scalping, but not quite as plan for runners. This has led to two things. One, I can trade and make more without trading forex. But I still go forward with forex. Currently I only look at one pair and that is the GBP_USD. I trade this at the same time as the MES as the GU moves close to the MES. Some may call this correlation and they would be correct to a point. I just see it as convenient. If/when I decide to look at longer-term trades the I will go back to looking at more pairs to trade.

Update time. Things are going extremely well in my learning process (and that has included some quit time). Again, this process has been ongoing for quite some time and only recently (about a month before I started this thread) have I gone in depth with price action trading. And it took that in depth route to see how price works (along with a lot of past chart viewing albeit an indicator system-even so, PA penetrates the subconscious).

My number one suggestion, after getting the basics of a PA method, is to spend some time watching price. I did that for the better part of a month. Undeniably I have an advantage in that I just retired from the restrictive work force putting in (most likely) about 80+ hours a week (for about 3+ years or so straight). So, I have the time and the ability to give this endeavor lots of time. Irregardless, if anyone is serious about trading, you need to put in some serious study.

My number two suggestion, trade index futures if you can. CFDs can be traded the same, the spreads look horrible after being on a futures exchange feed. My trading costs are minimal. My cost for 1 contract of the MES is $1.96. The spread is normally 1 tick. Except news events such as the CPI where it goes batsh!t. 1 tick has the value of $1.25.

As you can see it's cheap and once you know what you are looking for (entry) and are comfortable seeing it live, it becomes easily traded.

I'm going to make a few posts that go over my process in trading the SP500. This process can be used to trade forex and likely anything else as it is derived from methods that do just that. These methods are the SBurke Hi-Lo-Time method, the BVolman 5-minute breakout method, and (currently in the process) theABrooks read price bar-by-bar (or at least that's the theory) method. And what I will bring you initially is mostly the SBurke method and how I go from the previous day US session today's US session. Might call it the "How I Trade It" series. HITI.
