Hello dear traders,

MT4 is still the most used platform in the world for retailers because it has the highest number of indicators and EAs. Of the 5 million retail traders worldwide, 3 million use MT4 and 500,000 traders use MT5. The cTrader, on the other hand, is only used by around 300,000 traders. All other platforms do not have a significant share in the professional retail sector. This means that the MT4 and MT5 have a share of over 70%. The MT4 started in 2005 and although the MT5 was presented as a successor in 2009, it has not yet been able to assert itself against the MT4. This will continue to be the case because there is no easy way to convert an MT4 indicator to the MT5 architecture. That's because the MT5 is a completely different programming architecture. Basically, the MT5 is faster in execution time than its predecessor, but with a fast ping time, this advantage is only marginal. Many good auxiliary indicators are programmed as ex4 files and are therefore write-protected. These cannot be transferred to the MT5 as they would have to be reprogrammed to do so. However, in many cases the mql4 file is no longer available because the developers are no longer active or cannot be found. Never change a winning team. The retailers are not willing to do without their most important indicators and so the MT5 will probably continue to lead an unsuccessful existence. The MT5 is interesting for a trader who is just starting out or can do without his MT4 indicators. 85% of all retailers work under Windows, I myself work very successfully with MT4 tick charts running in a very fast VPS Linux server.

In 2018, I therefore initially made my developed bionic candle available for the MT4. From today it is also available for the MT5. In theory, 70% of all retailers worldwide could work with the bionic candle. Of course, the MT5 variant of the Bionic candle will also be free of charge, but it is also only available as an ex5 file because I don't want it to be changed. I have a request for this: If one day you notice that a trading coach is using my bionic candle in his seminars, please let me know.

Power failure in trade

Imagine you are about to enter a trade and you now want to set your stop. Suddenly you find that your mouse is unresponsive. The trade starts going heavily negative against you. Personally, I don't believe most traders will worry too much about the tax situation Michael... I think most would be happy finding something generating a regular profitable result (i am on of them).

Rest is money management, scaling up position size, so X Points/Pips you then constantly manage to achieve whatever monetary value is needed for a life based on that. Isn't it?

I think you need a LOT of capital if you plan to trade full time in a realistic way. As long as you don't live in a developing country where you might only need a few bucks a month to survive. But here in good old Germany... This month alone I've already spent 3.000 Euros and haven't even bought anything to eat yet.

Say i would be able to consistently make +1% a month i would already need a 300.000 EUR account to realize that. That's not living a particularly glamorous lifestyle, it's just the basics.

For sure if you are one of the super traders flexing their Yachts on YouTube making 1000% percents every month and even compounding things look different.

I agree with you that 90% of all traders try to break even. For this I have published many ideas and tips over the last few years to help these traders. I can't agree with the statement that you need a lot of capital for this. The background is that the brokers provide leverage that makes a €300,000 account unnecessary. Every trader can work with a leverage of 100-200 without taking the risk of going into the red with his trading account. In order to trade with one lot (€100,000), only a margin of €1,000 to €500 is required. You can also find a post on the subject here.

How much capital does a trader need?

A trader has €4,000 in the account, trades 1 lot, with a win rate of 60%, spread 0.7 pip in EURUSD, stop 3 pip and TP 6 pip. With this range he can complete 10 trades from 4-8 p.m. His risk is under 1% and the margin call would trigger at 50 pips. With these odds, the expected profit would be €31.80, the expected loss €14.80 and the expected profit €17 per trade. After 250 trading days, the profit is €79,500 and the loss is €37,000. This means that the trader tax is already an issue that needs to be considered. At the end of the year, the net profit is €26,810 and the monthly return is 2.2%, even though the trader only has €4,000 in his account. Even if the win rate is only 55%, the trader has a trader tax issue. Of course, a trader cannot live on €2,000 net yet, but he should first trade for 5-6 years in order to train his experience. If he posts regular income, he can consider becoming a full-time trader. Luckily, I'm not one of those traders who flex their profits, rather my posts focus on encouraging traders and showing them how they can make a living from trading for the long term. It's not about Ferrari and Rolex, but about being able to pay for everyday things like electricity and gas costs.

Yes. Leverage is a double edged sword. I probably don't have to explain that to you. I would also say that you shouldn't put all your capital in one brokerage account, my example was of an extreme nature. Still i would say you should plan a little more than leverage might give to you. It's not a matter of course that you actually achieve a defined risk and goal in an environment full of uncertainties

The risk is not guaranteed in my experience. You might place a hard stop loss at -3 Pips per order but get stopped out with a fill of a far different price at times. Since I've been mostly concentrating on trading GBP/USD lately, I can tell you that there have been instances where the price unexpectedly jumps hundreds of pips in a matter of seconds. So you should be prepared to reach the margin call faster than you think.

Again, thank you Michael. I am actually about to give up to ever find something working for me that is even profitable on a consistently base, forget about having certain minimum goals you want to achieve. Most i see is either highly complicated (too complicated for my needs) or is probably too simple to be effective.

Very Interesting concept at reading the candles from another perspective rather the traditional way
