1. Biden is busy printing trillions in chip/inflation stimuli while we should be cutting.
2. Biden depleted gas supplies when it was acquired/filled at 4x less by the previous administration now he has to purchase it back at 4x the cost. This isn't being reflected in the CPI.
3. energy cost is excluded in the CPI, suppressing the real inflation numbers.
4. Two ways the FED can combat inflation: massive interest rate increase or creating MASSIVE UNEMPLOYMENT.

5. tRump gave away 2/3rds of the stimulus before Biden even came into office.

I don't know about anyone else but I'd rather talk about TA than the snewzs any day of the week.

My lower low target for next week is about 3,600, higher low @ 3,650. Favored scenario is weakish claw-back Mon-Tues and then another heavy sell-off in days past the FOMC. The following week puts us in to the heaviest days of Q3 earnings, if FedEX was a preview, we could see another ~300 pt range down for the week, and the June '22 3,637 low will certainly be breached by then. I'd say 3,300 could be passed by the end of the month, and will set the stage for another miraculous rally back to the end of the year.

I'm surprised SPX doesn't have more of a discussion? Is there a more recent thread somewhere I am missing?

SPX is a sell post Fed. Likely we see a test of 3600 within a week and 3400 within a few weeks.

Fed will break either inflation or the economy dependent on which comes first.

Watch the focus move to earnings downgrades as we move into October.

I trade SPX & SPY options heavily, using lots of time spreads, hedging SPX risk with SPY, etc. I also trade RUT/IWM pair similarly. I will usually comment on my 1-wk to 1-month views for the S&P and there are a couple of people who seem interested. You can check it out here:

Idk what has happened to FF. There seems to be a lot less traders around here, generally.

Maybe a sign of the times? People with less time and money?

Thanks - i'll check out your thread.

Why do you focus on time spreads? What is your angle/strategy?

I think a lot of people have migrated to twitter, aka "fintwit." From there they wind up getting sucked into paid subscription discord and telegram furu rooms. Many probably blow out more quickly than if they were at a forum like FF and learning and testing ideas for themselves rather than hoping to take the easy way by following a furu's calls for $100 or more each month. I have seen several on twitter who are trading small $1000 accounts or less and instead of adding that $100/month to their trading account, they are paying it out in sub fees to some phony fraudster.

I don't know what the answer is, but internet trading forums are starting to fade unfortunately. Over at ET I don't think I've seen a single trading system thread or journal worth following in years. Here at FF at least people still share ideas for trading methods and systems and still trade. I think FF made an error when they broke off the other forums, e.g. the metals mine, energy exchange, crypto craft. The need is to keep traders concentrated at one central forum, not split people away into smaller and smaller more specialized groups.

FF still the strongest forum there is at this time.
If you cannot explain it, it is discretionary, which means it is random.

Cheers. I'm old, so resistant to change, so I'll probably just stick around here, whenever I have the urge to post, which comes and goes....agree re: FF, still painless and there are a few old timers still around, although many, many more gone, but that's life.

Ever since I started posting on my first trading forum back in the 90's (the TradeStation Forum) traders have been bemoaning that things have "changed and no longer any good like the old days". Shrugs.

Hope everyone was short today and not trying to catch the proverbial falling knife. Even if there is a late day rally, probabilities are always much better trading with the trend.

... I always trade bi-directionally. I try to set trades up so that the worst that can happen is I lose a little, maybe win a lot. I'm bearish, but the BTFD crowd is always waiting. These bear market rallies can rip your face off...

That is why I wait for the rallies to rip the long's faces off. Many times I get positive slippage B/A is moving so fast.
