Well Dylan himself (on harmonica) said the song lyrics got away from him on this one.
Probably did lol whatever that means (ask Bob).

Perhaps the jokerman was meant to be us, ourselves.

That he put Mark Knopfler & Mick Taylor together on guitar here was an interesting touch.
Bob added Sly Dunbar on power drums with recording pal Robbie Shakespeare on bass, both reggae from Kingston Jamaica who played on Lee Perry productions.
Alan Clark came on board on piano and Alan had played together with Mark when they were both with Dire Straits.


While the lyrics still intrigue, I just pretty much listen to the musos these days
