Way back when you joined Forex Factory, there were some giants here. Over the last 6 months, I have enjoyed studying the threads created by Nanningbob, Hanover, 7bit, Old Dog and others. These guys were very thorough and had an intellectual, theoretical approach that was very appealing and thought provoking. I think I kept going because these guys inspired my interest. Regarding Icarus, I would say that something 7bit said regarding grids/averaging/pyramiding really stuck with me:

"A combination of grid and anti-grid where the break-even parabola of the anti-grid always lies inside the break-even parabola of the grid and then simply make the ratio of the lot sizes equal to the ratio of the grid widths then this would be the holy grail."

Sorry, as i am not too technical to explain. But yes you are correct. Ksen added a multiplier factor to the martingale setting.

When using martingale with a low multiplier, you can soften the GS_progression, softer than fibonaccis GS_progression, I just want Gridsize to gradually increase, rather than double up(on martingale) while fibonacci grid size can sometimes over do the later sizing of grid.

Maybe depends on how you strategize using the settings available. But standard fib or matingale lot progression does not work for me. My main strategy is keep the TP close as possible to the latest trades, so that a little pullback will always hit the TP. That's why i use fixed grid size, and let atr expand or contract the grid freely.

Yes, I understand. I use "progression" setting #1 (d'Alembert) which progresses 1,2,3,4...etc. I plan on experimenting with the different "grid progressions" now.

Hi Omar,

I can't. I am neither a skilled programmer nor do I have the source of the indicator available. Dunno if decompile and modify is a thingy, but sure not mine ;-)

btw GBP was a bit scary again, saw that move about 5 times since january now, but it didn't fool me ;-)

You can use many EAs, to trade, of course you shouldn't use them as they are posted. for example you yourself posted an indicator that could be used in various ways to take advantage. Icarus can also be used in different ways: for entries, to manage exits or to accumulate long and short in the various movements and then close positively. Any robot, even the ones that seem the most useless can have their usefulness.

I have been forward testing v4.79 since you released it and so far the results have been very good.

However, I have been unable to get the Working Time parameter to work if the Start Time is greater than the End Time. For example, I would like to trade when the London and New York exchanges are closed, so a late evening GMT start (22:00) to an early morning GMT finish (05:00).

Also, I would like to adjust the data displayed on the screen. Can you please make the graphics settings (font size, color, position) part of the input settings or release the mq4 file and I will have a go myself.

Anything can be useful, but not necessary. Any version of Icarus, if properly calibrated and using more than one in collaboration, can solve the great problem of drowdown.

Using two or more instances of Icarus (properly calibrated), how would you go about managing the great problem of drawdown?

Difficult to explain it well here. It would be a matter of taking advantage of the movements to position yourself several times in the two directions with the same value and when you are in profit close. it can also be done with other robots, but Icarus is excellent as requirements.
