Code converting won't work. Also, many MT4 indicators come without source code. The best solution I can image is some kind of 3d party application or MT4/5 expert advisor which connect live MT5 and offline MT4 together. That is, you receive live broker feed to MT5 and then some tool running under MT5 forwards this feed to offline MT4 which running your legacy indicators. You either can manually open trades at MT5 based on MT4 charting or some tool running under MT4 can redirect your orders to live MT5 for real trading. I am pretty sure somebody will make this tool soon after MT4 is really retired from Metaquotes and brokers. So, don't worry about MT4. It will last for very long time.

Does anyone know any tool that can do 100% conversion of mq4 to mq5?

Firstly i would like to thank all of you for the help that ua giving us Traders
I have this 88_Filter indicator here as an mql4 file
Would the teacher help convert it to mql5 (mt5) file please when he's less busy, and also add alerts when the volume bars passes that line in window 1(check attached pic)
I tried to convert it but i failed, I don't know what I'm doing wrong
I opened Meta Editor in my mt5
I pressed file on top left corner, i pressed open and i navigate to the 88 filter indicator mql4
It opened nicely, then I pressed "save as" and changed the saving settings to "mql5"
The indicator was exported nicely
But here is the issue
The exported indicator is not appearing in the navigation list together with other indicators in the Data Folder>MQL5>Indicators
If the teacher is less busy, please help
It might benefit the community

can not. tha tis .ex4 binary file. there is no code to convert.

there is no short cut.

you have to manually convert the codes from MT4 to MT5.

good guide is this https://www.mql5.com/en/articles/81

the script will only convert some of the codes to MT5. not all will be converted.
Also, some new functions were introduced to MT4 since then. they are not in the script.

old MT5 codes were changed , as new MT5 version are release. the conversion texts in the script are static.

even this good guide in https://www.mql5.com/en/articles/81 is not 100% complete since it was written in 17 May 2010. Some codes in MT5 has been changed already. ( example : MQL5_TESTING to MQL_TESTER )

PAY someone to covert it for you. you think your MT4 EA is money making but the coder's won't care. they just want to code and you must give them reason to work for you.
