If you are blindly following IBs without knowing the markets, sure, but that's the same with anything.

IBs show consolidation, generally as shown here when an area of support/resistance is hit. For me an IB is simply a way to help newbies with money management.

That's not even talking about the other 50 things that people who stare at charts all day for years do without thinking.

Did you manage to figure out how you can minimize false signals? I'm quite interested in Inside Bar patterns too. But I am not being able to figure out how to minimize false signals. I take the trade when the inside bar is broken from either side. One week I had a lot of winning trades across major pairs. And the next week I had a lot of losing trades, while following the same strategy due to false signals. If I can find a way to have more winners than losers, that would be great too. I'm trading on 4H timeframe.

Profit... a helluva lot... +176.8% and running.

I love inside bars... but used on their own is no good.

I use the inside bar in conjunction with other entry criteria... the IB is only part of the plan.

My suggestion is that
you setup your trades on 4hr (if that's your preference), but use lower time frames to refine and place your Limit Order entries.

So...
Define your trade on 4hr using your favourite criteria (4hr for instance).
Move to 30 min or 15 min to fine tune and place the trade.
Even try 5 or 1 min entries... BUT backtest, backtest and backtest to eliminate the losing setups.

In that screenshot of my demo testing I used Daily and 4Hr charts to setup swings before placing the entries on a 15min chart... BUT, it was only a backtest, with no psychology involved.

Like other have said, inside bars need to be traded with confluence of other factors. Trading every inside bar will lead to failure.

Consider the following...

1) ONLY trade WITH the higher TF trend...
