Hello guys,

First of all, thanks to the coders for sharing their work with us.

I would like to know if someone has thought about including pending orders buttons to the EA so you can put some orders to tigger when price move to a certain value.

I'm testing it with GBPUSD magic=0 so I can put my orders and the EA will start managing them afterwards, but this way I can't trade any other symbol manually in the same account.

What do you think?

Im trading an old version of Icarus (224) on a cent account. This was since last year on my todo list, today i made it. I look for low DD systems.

I'll keep you updated and try to add more and more currencies.

I found some issue in v4.72. When lots progression is 0 (min_lots) the 3th order doesn't open.

Im actually moved on to version 4.31ATRGridUpdate and have an issue with the ATR changes.
In my opinion, we have to wait till buy AND sell cycles are closed to recalculate the grid sizes.
I made the changes (see picture), (comment out in buy and sell).

I dont see the connection, if the variables of the ATR changes during open buys or sells, but the BT definitely brings different results.

previously, ATR would just compute 1 time and then that is the ATR value and won't change.

Somebody fixed that, and made it constantly change even in the middle of a buy or sell cycle, therefore, making the next trades of the cycle dynamically change the GS_progression and TP because of the ATR. And i have read from Mr. Techaoliang that we need another variable to make it a "Per cycle" rather than a dynamically changing ATR.

I have lived with the dynamic ATR, i think most of the time it works, because if there is a trend mid cycle, the grid automatically expands and therefore expands the gridsize which makes the trades a little farther away.

But i also think having a "per cycle" ATR value can also work for smaller maximum trades.

So were you able to edit Icarus to a "per cycle" ATR?

Im fully aware of all the discussion before.
What I meant to say was, with version 4.31ATRGridUpdate, the grid is changed when buy==0 OR sell ==0.
So for example a sell postion is open, the grid is changed(while buy is zero), and this shouldnt happen during an existing cycle.


Im still learning Icarus and put most effort in BT and reading code. I dont know if I can do "per cycle" ATR but i will put some effort in it.


I prefer breakout strategies in trending markets, this performs already well with 4.31, there is still potential in SL an TP settings.
Blessing EA has some more options on this side, the next step I'll try to trade my icarus strats on blessing.

happy to see you are continuing the work I started last year, unfortuntly work and private life are keeping me busy so I can just sometimes jump in here.

As you can see I recoverd my account from double liquidation in Feb/Mar, but still need aroung 2K to be break even. Currently I do not run EA on auto due to the fact I am lacking time for doing intense backt and fronttesting, so I start a cycle when I have an opinion on the direction of a market, sometimes also using Currency Strenght Meter (Check in the forum for MADdash, this is my favorit) and opening a cycle when I see potential (e.g. just did this again for AUDJPY).

Regarding "This is your way to see the only pairs you're gonna trade", I thought this grid EA can only do one currency chart only. It becomes unstable to use it on multiple currencies at the same time. Is that so?

Hi, nope the templates work as posted even if you use magic 0. If have used SMG / Icarus for a VERY LONG time now and trust me, that works.

How do you mean "unstable" exactly ?

Thanks for responding. My understanding is that Icarus does not properly manage capital risks when one trading account is used on multiple charts because the "Account_Risk" is a parameter used on the overall account and not per chart basis. Your suggestion is to take multiple currency pairs at the same time. What do we need to do to ensure the EA runs smoothly?
- I read we need to change the magic number used per chart.
- But what else do we need to change to accommodate running the same EA on multiple charts?

Hello.
I am not a programmer, but I also like ATR)) so I tried to make the grid flexible and lively. I slightly changed the code and now the distance between orders depends on the ATR value at the moment the order was opened. Please check. I've only done one test and I'm pretty happy with it.

Hi Ksen,

Thanks for this new type of Ikarus, I'm trying to do a backtest but I'm getting this error, can you please check it, I really want to test your version of Ikarus, It seems interesting, I tried to forward test it in Demo, is that normal it's opening a several trade, for me it opened four trade.

Hi, thx for feedback. I fixed this essue.
And I reloaded mql-file.
Also I want to write about changes in my file (I should have done that in my previous post):
1/ Cut all indi
2/ Cut work time
3/ Add multiplicator for Martingale in GridStep and Lot progression (now you can change it not only 2.0) But I can't solve the problem with rounding the lot when the martingale progression is small, for example 1.1 with a lot of 0.01 (when multiplied, the result is always a lot of 0.01)
4/ More convenient progression selection (more visual)

What does Martingale progression - 2 do actually?

I think having indicators rsi and bb at least, would better tame icarus. Hope you can bring it back with your version. And also hope you can explain the new features.

Thanks for the update, the backtest is working already but the placing of order is still the same, it's placing four orders (2 buy and 2 sell) instead of 2 only (1 buy and 1 sell).

I'm trying to fix it. I probably hastened to spread my version, it is still raw, like me in terms of programming)))
I found more problems. When choosing a grid step other than ATR, orders are opened immediately in a bunch. Maybe someone from experienced programmers will figure it out faster?

Disable in settings “initiate both cycle when indicators is used”.
Let it be for now. Hhow to do it programmatically I'll figure it out later
