Good EA you have here. Just a request, can you do a version where not using trailing stop please? I just want it to close once set TP reach without trailing stop. Also any coder who can help I really appreciate.
Trend. Price. And nothing else matters.

Just set profit lock to 1.0 to solve your request.

Starting in both directions is bullshit. Useless expense and waste of time. Coverage is too. Trading requires a choice that is sometimes good and sometimes bad. The trading system has to remedy when it goes wrong.

I know for 2.2 and when I used later versions I saw the same thing. Maybe it's my misunderstanding of what profit lock means though. In the following picture (2.2) you can see the blue line being the 'take profit' however the price goes way above it, locks and then drops back down again below 'take profit' without closing the buy side.

Using a profit lock of 1.0 it was the following:

Current Profit: $1.91
Goal:$2
Maximum reached: $4.91
Profit locked: $4.91

Here is the result after some more time:

Current Profit: $-4.26

With profit lock of 1.0 shouldn't it of just closed at $2? I was half expecting it to close the buy when it dropped back down to the 'take profit' goal but I didn't expect it to keep dropping to a 'large' loss.

After checking 4.31 using the same values / settings the functionality works as expected, the buy trades in the same scenario are closed correctly. You can ignore my previous post. I'll just have to use the later version and disabled any extra features I don't need.

This thread has been quiet lately with regards to further development. I sense that a lot of us are already profitable with our own settings and adjustments.

Maybe just to keep the fire alive in this thread. I would like to share my expectations whenI set up Icarus for my own use.

I use it on Eurusd only because this is where i am most comfortable with. I studied long trending situations on this pair over the past 3 years.

That is why my 99.9% backtest workflow is based on the last 3 year period.

Using BB as my only trigger,
Using progression - 3 fibonaci
using gs_prog - 0 fixed - this should be carefullly thought of as too small will burn you, too big will give you long drawdowns. (Best to control in ATR)
Using ATR, this is the best kept secret, have the right mix of period, gs_multiplier and tp multiplier for the ATr and you will not have big drawdowns. the small retracements would hit my take profit 85% of the time.
By using ATR: dynamic grid size and dynamic tp is really a game changer. I know a lot has not been using this. But you really have to study this. By having static GS and static TP, you will get burned on contratcting or expanding grid size.


Backtest has to survive for 3 years
Backtest will have static lot size of .01, Scaleability will be easy once we have baseline.
Backtest should not have a maximal drawdown bigger than 90% of my initial fund (margin call protection)
monthly profit %(based on initial fund) should at least be 8% a month.
I do not intervene in times of drawdown, i let the system run.

The screen shot that i posted a few posts up has all passed those conditions and is doing fantastic. Hopefully more forward live trading will solidify my strategy.

So anybody wants to share their workflow?

i am using icarus 4.6 and Icarus 4.72. They have slight differerence in hedging. Both version has good ATR.

Thanks Francis, I started playing around with the settings and back reading the threads to understand fully the logic of the EA, I do it in live account already by your setting post above and I do back test also and is doing great. Hi guys, been quiet a bit due to personal reasons.

I took a hit some days ago, because it went against me and I decided to cut the losses.
Finally it would have turned in my favour again, but I decided to go safe and move on.
On monthly basis march turns out to be positive non the less.

Meanwhile I have taken Ikarus 4.31 ATR and modded it myself
I managed to get a version going, where I changed the BB entries into changing to a CCI entry.
It now triggers the first trade when CCI 25 moves over the +/- 100 level on M15 (was H1 in my original settings via stochastics)

I am live again with these modifications and have made quite some progress with an even lower DD.
Will post again when time allows me to do so.

Hi RS !

Glad to see you looking around and trying other indicators. I've seen this one in the past, but I have never exactly looked into the logics.
Trying out is always the best method but you also use the weekly level 3 settings, which is quite similar to the CCFp indicator.

I've had a bit different pairs this week, but it also turned out to be really ok. I have closed up all trades a few minutes ago and will resume next week due to market being flat and many news including NFP until friday.

I didn't have time to perfect my templates for the CCI EA at the moment, but hope to get it done soon.
