Hi, well yeah, I suppose we'd have to filter down to one signal per candle at least.

I've tried a bit of demo trading on M1 since the war started, just to keep in check my triggerhappyness ^^
The semafore / ziggy / end of trend is good alert to start trading if a cci +-100 break appears for example.

The demo was terminated though due to me not taking it to serious and not sticking to the rules.

I was just wondering because I thought YOU had programmed / modded Ikarus. Never mind.

The new week started and this is a real start of my test drive of this system.

The FrontPage list were all Shorts and there are too many, so I opted to swith to level 4, and took the top 3 excluding JPY pairs. Why not JPY pairs? Well from my experience with other systems/trades, I somehow became negative to these pairs. There is no other meaningful reasons.

After 6 hours the current standing is about 50 bucks positive. Let's see how this will grow through the week.

since you have shared your results, we can review all of our data from the CCFp. It feels a little better on a live account when you see the others have the same results.
I also upgraded to level 4, but unlike you I took the JPY values

Hey Akira and SH1, nice to see / hear your setups !

I just don't know if the CCFP_diff actually sorts the pairs it shows by strength. Other strength meters do, but I THINK it does not.
Second thing is your margin ... 0.1 starters at 10k account might be daring, but with only 3 pairs chosen we will see how it plays out.
You have to be the one sleeping well in times you can't attend the screen ^^

Happy trading. I have resumed with 4 pairs GBPAUD GBPCAD GBPJPY and GBPNZD ... starter lots 0.07 at leverage 1:200.

by the way : I switched the stoch entry in Ikarus from M5 to M15, leaving all other settings the same. This should give better entries and reduce the DD.
I am also backtesting with different settings regarding the use of Bollinger Bands.

Hey guys, hope you are doing fine!

Just started opening yesterday a short position with EA in S&P500, all positions are winners and win is secured by MT4 SL. Never mentioned it, but if you manualy trade with EA you can use trailing SL and TP from EA and combine it with SL and Trailing SL from MT4...Pls test this firt on demo before using it on real account...

Instead of opening, I close manually and versions 4.0 and 4.72 lend themselves well to this other mode
Hi guys, I’ve been a silent reader of this thread since its inception and after backtesting and forward testing Ikarus 2.2 for some months now, after reading and studying this thread completely (twice), I have started making some good profits on a live account (standard 1.500 leverage) .
I would like to share with you some “good practices” I’ve developed for myself in order to profit from this wonderful EA safely. You might find these rules are a little bit extreme, but I consider they are necessary given that this EA is a double-edged sword (extremely profitable but extremely risky too).


Protocol to trade with Ikarus 2.2 (against the trend griding) :

1) Choose the most choppy pairs: given that Ikarus 2.2 is an against the trend grid EA it profits with messy markets. That’s why we want to avoid trending market. CADCHF is the most choppy pair in FX market right now and it’s the one I’m using to trade Ikarus (see weekly chart)

2) Set time limits for EA: you definitely don’t want to let it run free in the markets. I personally trade it the first 7 hours of the market and then I turn it off. You want to reduce market exposure as much as possible. If EA makes some quick profits in the firsts hours of trading, call it a day and turn it off. You should also have a profit target for each day. Of course, while the live account is off, you must run EA on a demo account to keep learning, always watching and learning.

3) Avoid high-impact news: turn it off before any important event, at least half an hour before. Remember: you want to avoid big movements and news-events are the most powerful catalysts. NEVER trade during interest-rate decision days. For more security, just don’t trade if you have important news today.

4) Volume progression should be disabled: in order to trade safely, all trades must be executed with minimum lot size. Needless to say, if you want to survive long term (I mean, years) , you must never, never trade using martingale or the like. Small profits, small risk, keep it boring but safe (there isn’t any other way to trade professionally otherwise it’s betting)

5) Grid size: grid size must increase progressively, the reason being that strong movements are the killer of this the EA so as the market moves in one direction we want the EA to trade less and less until it returns to the mean.

6) Leverage and balance: you definitely need deep balance or high leverage in order to survive losing streaks.

7) Location: the EA profits from choppy markets so we want to start trading near high-traded areas of the price. I personally use POC and Value Area (see market profile studies) or if you want a more simple approach just open the EA near some moving average (not when price is far from it). Studying some “mean reversion” systems might help understand the concept.

8) Take-profits: the EA is not very good taking profits for it doesn’t close extremely profitable trades and it lets them return near it’s entry price until they are closed with the profit-lock function. This is an important weakness. So if some trades are very profitble close them manually and you will make a huge difference at the end of the day.

1.Perfect trading plan. If you can lay out some general ideas for identifying any symbol's choppiness characteristics, how would you go about it. In other words how would you screen a set of symbols - those could be for any kind of CFD not necessarily a forex pair.
2. Any links to the mean reversion system that you have found useful for sideways or non trending trading?

Just turned off Ikarus after first trading day of the week. As I said, I only trade the first 7-8hs of the markets and then I walk away before big -news come out. I pulled down $4.12. I'm tempted to increase lot-size, but I'm still learning how to use Ikarus, so I'll be patient.

Largest profit $2.35 was closed manually. EA would have let it go back to opening price. As I said, Ikarus is a great tool but needs to be moderated.

Now I'm eyeing USDCAD it seems more choppy than CADCHF on the weekly chart, what do you guys think?

We have inflation data coming on wednesday for CAD, so forget about CADCHF AND USDCAD for this week. We'll have to find another pair
Second trading day of the week. Profit $1.85. EA is proving extremely consistent for me 4th day green in a row, netting $19.62 since last week. I will soon increase lot size.

I decided to trade CAD again despite incoming inflation data tomorrow...I figured out the market would be choppy until the data is released.

This thread is so quiet lately, Is anyone else trading live with it besides MaPi?? Come on guys, you are never going to find a risk-free system/ea....this one is pretty good you should run the risk at least with a cent account

I am trading live. Here is the result of my latest set file of icarus. Doing really good.

This has been running since Feb. 22

And I have pretty decent profit.

I am trading eurusd, on a standard account.
With the correct settings, You should be able to leave icarus and let her work the way that it should. A grid trading robot that will take care of drawdown even if they are substantial. I have yet to prove this in forward live test as my new settings has just been running for about a month, but in my backtesting, my settings survive for 3 years backtesting, without margin call.

You just need a little patience in understanding every aspect.
Great. I believe it's very important to share how we are doing with the EA to motivate others and learn from each other's perspective on the EA, a kind of "social -grid trading" forget about being so secretive about your trading please....we are so tiny in this huge market it's not going to make any difference. The best we can do is learn from each other ... that's the right way

You are doing very well. Let me ask how you came to choose this pair? And why you are trading both ways long and short?

I understand the system is to choose the pairs for long only and short only with CCFp-Diff_[v2.0-MTF] at the beginning of the week. It is as follows and I don't see your pair in it:

I don't have any method to determine which pair is more choppy, just price action, for example the ones which are inside a triangle or have been choppying around for a while. CADCHF was inside a triangle until recently now it broke out so it doesn't seem to be the best option anymore.

I don't know what you mean....Ikarus is a grid trading EA you don't have to choose a side, that's the beauty of it.

I wasn't careful enough to realize you are using 2.2 EA. Sorry about that.

I am using 4.31 EA by xxl205 https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/...2#post13888942 which is largely different.

Anyway, 2.2 EA is the original, and I should restudy it with your input in mind.
