Williams%R, SAR X-over 15 minute candles

This weird not really a big deal though, My subscribers went from 142 to 52 now at 59 website was doing some maintenance so not sure whar happened.

2 B/E, 2 stops and 1 profit on EURUSD. Too many stop losses. Too many trades). I can't good read price action yet. But I'll try to learn it.

Trading NY open good idea to wait at least a couple of minutes. I traded a lot today 2 trades each on 6E, 6B both long with the trend also
long on 6A all the opening candles had one thing in common they show as indecisive long wicks top and bottom and the bodies relatively smal except 6b plus wicks are pretty much of equal lengths top and bottom and bodies pretty much right in the middles. I was also long 6J but I waited awhile to get in that trade because I don't like trading it generally.(personal preference. Here's pix of the opening candles. Sorry didn't like pix here's new ones.

So after opening candles and since USD in general has been slightly bearish I placed my orders when price moved above the top of the wicks. The is ok for currency futures as long as there has been no big news, I would not do this with indexes.

I'm not a user of candles stick patterns per se but long wicks tell you something today indecsion was followed by conviction. Candles with a single long wick tell another story either bearish or bullish. Lastly a series of candles with big wicks say? Stay away or you'll get whipsawed

also candles with big wicks will help you find support or resistance. example would be if a candle drops down then retrace back up then you will have support at that level. then you can wait for it to break support by closing below that level or trade it as it retraces.

When you say "trading NY open, do you mean the NYSE open, or do you mean the 8:20 AM currency futures open?

Using ToS I like to use the US futures session only, and I make sure "aggregate at market open" is selected on the chart. If there is news pending, I wait. I usually use 15 minute candles so the opening candle doesn't close until after the news reaction (first candle is 8:20 AM to 8:35 AM Eastern).

No I mean NYSE open, but what you're doing is fine.

rocky, did you know that the Williams %R is the same as the fast stochastic %k with the %D set to "1"?

On ToS I discovered something else: When you use %K with your Williams%R settings (you have to set the %D to "1," you can turn on up and down signals to show the crossover. It is very helpful to me. It might be to you and your students as well.

I attached a chart showing the signals, and also the entry candles. This is 15 minute candles, the original rockypoint. I only use the USA futures session. When the market opens like it today with the %K (Williams %T) already above the 50, I use PA to enter.

This was Monday's session. Again, the chart may look strange to some of your subscribers because it doesn't include the overnight trades. It starts at 8:20 Eastern when the USA bank futures open.


And this was Friday. There was a perfect signal on the opening candle, both signalling long. Price action did not take me into the trade on the fourth candle as noted.

I also use pivot points and price action per the old forexmentor course by Peter Bain from 15 to 20 years ago, as well as concepts from Rob Smith's "The Strat." The start is really a price action method. It is free on youtube and twitter, and it makes many systems better.

I managed to make a trade on EURUSD at the opening of the London session. But the entry had to be made on the previous candle, probably. And then the size of the stop loss would be smaller.

I managed to take a similar movement on the NZDUSD, but on another terminal, I can’t make a screen there. But maybe, according to EURUSD, tell me something, how it was possible to make the trade better. Or maybe it wasn't worth trading at all.

The Six major futures contracts I trade have opened in USA. My main focus is always 6E, the Euro. But if I see something else signalling weak or strong and the Euro is doing nothing much, I'll trade the others.

Long 6B, the GBP/USD futures, for continuation of yesterday up. Long entry 1.3722, stop loss is 1.3713, profit target is 1.3782. -9 risk, +60 Reward.

Today on NY session made 2 Losses. I think it was a not good idea to Buy Resistance). Also made 2 B/E. How to avoid that not nessassary trades?

I don't trade this system but trend trading systems like this one and the one i use suffer from low volatility or i should say below average volatility days. i.e the 21 day average is 69 on the eur/usd but today it only moved 40+ pips. youre not gonna get far.

just take your losses and come back tomorrow. if you keep trading you'll just draw the account down way too much in 1 day. daily max loss limits are a valuable tool

It seems I understand you. It was the same with my trading this system and many other intraday strategies. I started chasing the market, and every time he deceived me. Analyzing my charts, I realized that as soon as I opened a trade, the market turned in the other direction. I figured that if I took purposefully opposite trades, I would make a lot of money. I lost enough money day trading before I realized that I was too emotional and impulsive for this job. It also caused constant stress, my eyes and back hurt.

I'm a bit of a gambler - and that's bad for trading. Given the structure of my psychology, trading is contraindicated for me, where I cannot calmly think everything over and make a decision. So I went back to where I knew how to make money...to the D1 chart, WHERE I DON'T HAVE TO MAKE IMPULSE DECISIONS IN ONE MINUTE, and I can think all day long.

RP to some extent helped me realize this with his advice. I do not dissuade anyone from trading intraday. Many here have a fine trade that I will never be able to achieve. You just have to figure out if it gives you freedom and happiness, or if it brings you stress and pain. And also, if you are an impulsive person, then most likely this is not your style of trading.
If all of the above is not about you, then keep studying and you will succeed!

Trading should be stress-free. Otherwise, you will never make money in the market.
