Disliked{quote} There is a 2-week overlap when Europe and USA change the clocks; I find it best just to live with until those weeks pass by. Not worth the hassle to change twice and end up where you started. That's all I got.Ignored
I would like to use this indicator to box/line the first 15 Mins of the UK open from high/low price during that period. OR any other market session open for another custom defined period like the first 15 Mins of the NY open. As my strategy is focused around market session opens it's crucial to me to then have at least the right price bars/candles affected by the indicator no matter if summer/winter time.
My broker GMT offset in summer is GMT+3 and in Winter (as we have right now since last Sunday) this is GMT+2
So for the standard time in winter where it is GMT+2, the UK open candle and where it should box the first 15 Mins of the UK open is 10:00-10:15. For winter time where it is GMT+3 this would be 11:00-11:15 instead.
Now without having the indicator to automatically adjust to this 1 hour difference between winter/summer time I will always have to take care about that while scrolling back and forth my chart. This makes manually backtesting while scrolling back 1 year or even later a real pain in the ass, always having to check date and manually change the indicators times setting so it would not draw the session box at the wrong place.
So right now i have the indicators input to 10:00-10:15 to box the correct period for the first 15 Mins of the UK open during standard winter time. But if I now would like to scroll back on my chart to anywhere before October 29th it would still plot the box at 10:00-10:15 instead of automatically adjusting it to 11:00-11:15 to have the correct UK open for the first 15 mins as it was back before that date.
I found another session indicator that is doing that. So there you can specify 2 inputs like
Settings:
- Winter=2 (UTC+2=EET)
- Summer=3 (UTC+3=EET)
It is this one: https://www.mql5.com/de/code/10513
However the 4 sessions indicator is missing some of the features that "Auto_Sessions_v2.91.mq4" provides. Further the version that user idiamond posted "Auto Sessions 21.173.zip" that I also recently tried is even providing some more cool features like the option to have different fill styles like using horizontal lines instead of a filled boxed alone.
Sadly the version user idiamond posted is also not boxing the correct period to me. The source code he said to have included in this zip is just a blank wrapper. If I am trying to box/line the first 15 Mins from high to low price with that version of the indicator, it is not using the correct period here somehow (see the chart i posted) It somehow extends it too far, the Auto_Sessions_v2.91.mql here is doing a better job to me but like said missing these newer fill style features idiamond added.
Both indicators the Auto_sessions_v2.91 or the version that idiamond i would like to have auto adjustment to DST. So this would be the first thing i would have to get sorted out. The next thing would be having the version that idiamond posted using the correct range from high/low for the time period defined.
What a struggle
