DislikedThe evident shows that hedging in Icarus cannot guarantee the account be protected from a big price movement. However, it is obviously that hedging in Icarus will reduce the profitability.Ignored
Disliked{quote} The question is, how you hedge Pls See my thought regarding hedging! If you hedge like crazy without to do the math this is true! If you expand my idea even further and start hedging at let's say Order 4 and start to dismantle the fist order with the profit, with the second hedge the second and third order than it will work. Just Hedge the particular order at a 100% (or even a little bit higher), than you can only get better - except my excel is not calculating correct and my MT4 show me fairytalesIgnored
DislikedI have tried to compare Icarus 4.0.3_beta with the settings as follows. {file}I intentionally to set the lots to 0.1 and run back test without hedging, and the result is hereby: {image}{image}Then, same settings but with hedging, and the result is: {image}{image} It seems that the account is not being protected as expected. It crashed. Next, I set lots to 0.06 with hedging, this time it won't crash. Disliked{quote} I see what you mean here. I have to say that the intention of hedging against the cycle is to protect the account BY ADDING EXTRA VOLUME (LOT) POSITIONS to the cycle. The extra lot contradicts the protection usually. But we fix this contradiction with money management. When you are on a 1k account it makes no sense to initiate the cycle with a 0.1 or 0.05 lot position and also use the hedge function. Because hedge will just destroy the account! however, the account will be destroyed on its own because of no money management and being high-risk....Ignored
Disliked{quote} What I am talking is applying hedging mechanism into Icarus. I had studied your hedging method from your PDF, if your hedging method is applied into Icarus, Icarus won't be Icarus any more. I also had studied the hedging approach of Farzad666, his hedging function is separated and can be added on Icarus without intervening Icarus's trading logic too much. I am not opposed to the hedging use. In fact, I employed hedging mechanism in my EA, Robin. In Robin, I use four cycles for managing orders. They are, buy cycle, sell cycle, hedging buy...Ignored
Disliked{quote} Acquiring skills of Hedging Management needs at least 3 years actual experience doing it. Who has that patience? If you want to do auto trading for risk managment, discard all ideas to enter trades by using indicators. Discard stop loss and all risk management filters. Just set up two grids one for buying and another for selling. You can use 50 pips difference between the start price of the two grids or if you have a bias for buying , then set up pending orders at a price you perceive to be going to be support level below the start price...Ignored

Disliked{quote} Hello Mr TeChaoLiang, what is the backtest timeframe and period please? I am currently testing your setup on EURUSD. The H1 timeframe seems to be the most relevant for the moment on a small account of 3000 starting from 0.01 I'll keep you posted on my final setup if that helps ?! Good Sunday to all ! DislikedI am trading with Icarus now more then 7 years (including it's old versions). I am running settings with smal gridsize giving me a high risk high chance profile, aiming for trippling up on a yearly base. I am doing this on a real account wich I consider to be a fun account, so the loss of it would not change a thing in my live. So, please believe me, out of praxis and 20 years+ in the trading industry I not just understand the risk involved in Icarus, I am accepting them! From a conventional standpoint in trading I would say: Icarus is combining...Ignored
Disliked{quote} I am not stuck in the logic of Icarus. My replies is only to somebody want me to add hedging function into Icarus. There are many ways to design a grid trading EA, of course, we don't have to be stuck in Icarus. Instead adding hedging function into Icarus, I would rather to discuss a new grid trading strategy for a new EA. We can discuss and specify new trading strategy of this new EA. Then, we can build a new one. We should first decide the grid trading EA is a with trend or against trend. Next, we are going to specify the relationship...Ignored
Disliked{quote} Hi TeChaoLing, I am getting a little confused, please help me out: Why do you prefer to start a new project than improoving this EA? Hedging will always be a request, again, the trader can choose by setting if he wants to use it. Is it easier to code from 0 than building up the basement we allready have achieved? CheersIgnored
Disliked{quote} It is impossible to improve Icarus via hedging mechanism. To my understanding of Icarus' logic, I found no where we can add hedging mechanism into. I do think trying to improve Icarus by adding hedging function into is a dead end. My post 1442 is a disprove. It shows that 1. hedging definitely will reduce the profitability of Icarus. 2. It does not guarantee the account can be protected by employing hedging mechanism. If someone want to employ hedging in a grid trading logic, the logic must be redefined and hence a new project.Ignored
And you are proofing your opinion with an incomplete beta version, which has just some functions of that plan (btw, thank you farzad again for that piece of code)?
Honestly, I did not calculate that, but I trust in Mr.Trader who sayed he did, and without calculating it seems a worthy try, am I wrong? How hard is it to code that logic into Icarus? When it is easy I think we should have a try to find out via backtest...

Disliked{quote} & {quote} Guys help me out here I got a bit confused. Till now I thought we're going to continue on progression after opening the first hedge. Imagine we start hedging on 6th position with 8 lot volume and we are on a buying cycle where the trend is downward badly! and our hedges are being opened one after another! Our volume is as followed: 1 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 5 Here the first hedge opens and we'll have: Blue : BUY Red : Sell 1 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 5 , 8 , 8 Then: 1 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 5 , 8 , 8 , 8 , 8 1 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 5 , 8 , 8 , 8 , 8 , 8 , 8 1 , 1 ,...Ignored
