Unfortunately sometimes an infection is too deep and set that amputation is the only cure that works.

However, here the Chief Surgeon has gone fishing.

Claudia's Dax 15 minute bar.
I traded the one minute bar, using this as a start, elsewhere - had a reasonable morning session.

Here my FTMO Trial trades for today. "Trading what i see" proved me wrong 3 times in a row so far and the fourth try looks just about getting stopped out too. Probably nothing you can do instead of luckily staying out, using a bigger stop loss per entry or exactly not doing this type of discretionary scalping and find that more mechanical/systematic approach. I am not sure what else people would do here. So getting stopped out 4 times in a row at -10, that's already a 40 Pips i then have to make just to be back to break even for the day (not including...

Maybe this tip could help you:

Before opening any type of trade, ask yourself those 2 questions:

1) Has been a recent Swing High/Low on H1 taked out?
If Yes:
Frame your entry at your discretion

If no: Sit on hands

2) Are we in an efficient or inefficient market?
If Yes:
Keep an eye on gaps, inefficiency/liquidity voids and fair value gaps

If No:
Keep an eye on intrasessions highs and lows on m15 + / swings on h4/h1 and d1

This would be still no mechanical approach in my eyes where the rules are fixed and would lead to a profitable end result over time. My hole point of doing the BillyBar was to have a fixed time spot of the day for when to take action, a fixed entry point, a fixed stop point, a fixed security to trade.

It was very clear to me since the beginning that because of the inverted risk to reward where i would have to risk a 15 Pips to win a potential 5 Pips that would most likely lead to a net unprofitable end result at the end of a given trading month. So even for a month where you may had a high rate of success (>80%) to reach to such 5 Pips target after entering on the first break. After counting in the losing examples you most likely would come out only net unprofitable.

Simple maths you can't avoid or change into a profitable outcome no matter how positive or not you look at things.

Therefor the reason why you then need to fix these failed entries where you got stopped out at the opposite end of the setup's range that is one of the rules. OR in some other people's world, "locked" at the opposite end of the range. The mission would be still the same. You then need to come out net profitable again after x time or you lose, simple.

I thought i could somehow find a way to do these fixes but so far couldn't. It's then started more like to become a gamble and i thought thats what a lot of people are already doing, so thats why I left it for now.

I tried all kind of martin gale or grid approaches as a recovery/fix solution but that also didn't work out well. There are times it simple fails too many times in a row, if you then decided to martin gale your account gets toasted quickly.

And yes i also tried to "filter" by limiting the size of the range for days i would trade, adding this or that to decide entering or not entering for a day. You then most likely going to filter out a few losing examples and reduce your loss but will also reduce your wins and while this is already tight at only a 5 Pips target you then will have even a harder time to come out positive at the end of a month.

I see a winning BillyBar example got posted. Yes that is all great. There were 3 days it failed in a row lately what about them?

I now have to clear my head again from all that... Simple is great if it really works and is profitable but otherwise it's nothing else than simple.

Not feeling too well at the moment. Will have a break and then maybe start all over again.

I thought Claudia wanted to share a EA for trading these range breakouts? If you read this Claudia, hope you are fine. regards.

So, thanks MrGreen but i don't think this will help me too much at the moment.

A very simple question........What is the fixed R:R that you would feel 'comfortable' to take?

Anyway i was not talking about billy bar, i didn't even know you was struggling with this method. Now take a break and relief all the stress. I feel you. Then leave this type of approach for who has millions in the account and can hedge without any kind of problem.

Then, start studying price with fresh head and only look for trades with a 1:2 RR. Nothing more. You want times of a day? I give it to you: New York Open it's when you will hunt your setups.

Forgive fixed entry point, fixed stop point and fixed security to trade. This doesn't exist in the markets, maybe Hedge Funds with billions of capitalization and teams of mathematicians, analysts, programmers etc can do this. But not mortals. Markets change continuously, one week it's never the same of a previous week... this is why you struggled. You have to continuously adapt and interpret the market. All you need it's a 51% win ratio with 1:2 RR trades. It doesn't mean you have to catch 100 pips per trade; just adjust the size and you can aim for 30 pips or even 20 a day. Your week end when you get 30-40 pips.

Gnome body knows what brought on this transformation! He should be out soon but don't gnome when.
Some ungnome substance may have affected him - gnome one knows how long it will affect him but not too long, one hopes, since the icy grip of winter is on its' way.
Gnome reason to be "like" Billy - get a fur coat instead.

Iddd, you can't deny the fact that all the traders in this thread have a discretionary component to their trading approach. They all have their unique style and you can only cultivate this aspect through experience. I dedicated 2 years of my life to trying to copy Lemercenaire's style by was unable to formalize it. It is like trying to grab water in your hand, each of these guys and their decision to take a trade is the result of their experience, character etc.. which is impossible to replicate perfectly.
As an example, when i was trying to follow billy's method i faced the same issues as it was impossible for me to understand the fixing part of it and if i remember i even asked him about it.
