One more question... How much does the news have as an impact on this system? I mean would a newsfilter be beneficial or will it be bad for the system?

From day 1 I use Daily bars ONLY.
With my current settings, I use different size of minimal daily body size for each currency pair, which I am still not 100% sure if these will be the final settings.

Yea its like maaHomes says, since the latest trade is closed first you get a burst of profit then as the rest get closed you see profit fall off.

I encourage you to do the daily on the major crosses like EURUSD GBPUSD AUDUSD USDCAD and USDJPY ... see how that does in a month or two.

Since you would be using the EA all you would be required to do is check and see that all trades are placed correctly... Then just let it do its job..

Is this EA also without restrictions? No expirations?
It's your choice and you have the right to do so, but in my opinion when so many forum members are helping you to debug the EA and also the fact this EA was originally open source it should stay that way. But that's me.

Hello everyone,

I am running a test on GBP/USD on the 1M TF with the EA from xmess7 which atm appears to have some issues

The settings are as following:

 

  1. TP: 1 pip
  2. Candle Size: 3 Pips
  3. Spread: 0.5


Issue #1: If you notice the first trade on the left, that trade closed roughly @ 8.8 pips (instead of 1 pip)
Issue #2: On the 2nd signal, the first entry actually hit the 1 pip profit, but didn't close
Issue #3: When averaging down, the EA doesn't appear to open a position on every candle as intended

None of xmess7 ea's have any restrictions. As for xmess' ea being open source, that is incorrect - xmess wrote it so it is his choice as to what he chooses to do with his work. Many people can assist to debug it but at the end of the day he has written the code which is his interpretation of the original concept which may or may not be identical to the rules stated in post 1. Members can freely download it and try it for themselves at no cost.

I was reffering to the EA xmess7 used to build his EA from, it was posted in this thread by member soko8, and that one was open source.

I only use xmess7 EA:s for Strategi tester so I can get the best settings for manual trading. It is okay for me...

all EAs I publish are free and of unlimited use. I would of mentioned this restriction on the first post I made but I did not .

The only thing I am not doing at this moment is releasing the source code. I plan to do that later on...

I also will not add new features or request at this time. I have had the experience of doing this in the past, and unfortunately the EA becomes a mess of inputs LOL.

In my opinion, use the EA as the author intended on the daily TF on major crosses. You should get the similar results as he has the only difference is that you will take a lot less time when monitoring the EA . The lower TF I showed was just a small challenge I made for myself. It's fun to see but has no real meaning. The only way any approach has a real valid meaning is if you FORWARD TEST IT and even better on a LIVE ACCOUNt .

Which version are u using? Get version 3... one of the other versions has an error in the pip calculation... it inflates the pips so seeing 8 pip TP would be expected from those other versions... cause that is the error.

The EA is made to as close as possible to what pg 1 indicates. Only differences is that I added PercentSTOP so users can select an overall % profit to be reached on the DAY. They can also tell the EA to STOP for the day if that % gain is reached. Other than that the EA follows the rules on pg1.

The rules are real simple...

Mr or Miss soko8 did a great job but that code has a couple of errors that will affect the results the EA provides. If you want I can add the correction to that code and the pass you that code. Once I correct the errors you will have your source code .

My version has many personal proprietary functions. Before I release my version's source I plan to modify/remove my proprietary code. I plan to do that later when I have nothing else to do LOL.. In addition my version is alot more streamlined. I use various approaches that eleminate alot of extra code... etc etc etc...

im using v3 of xmess7 EA since the 12th of Sep on daily timeframe, ootb on about 14 pairs, not a single trade so far (yes autotrading, smiley face, dll enabled)

does anyone have a similar experience? just trying to figure out if this is normal for this system or if there's something wrong my end

Ever since I've download the EA (thank you sooo much xmess7 and smilee89 for the strategy) I was so happy that I could finally backtest and OPTIMISE the strategy but I realise that OPTIMIZATION has a steep learning curve....I need help.... as for this strategy which of these parameters should I place more importance than the others:

1) Profit
2) Profit factor
3) Drawdown %

I assume you confirmed "missed trades"? Use the indicator that was provided and place it on a couple of charts. See if there were candles that met the GAP you set in the EA. Check that way if trades were missed. IF you do find missed trades, let me know. Please provide the list of pairs you are working on so I can try to emulate what you are seeing.

Actually no I had not tested those, thanks for the suggestion. I am more used to soko8's ea (which I know has some bugs and I believe does not strictly place trades according to the rules specified, but it does trade a lot more frequently - what I've just realised, taking a look again at the charts with the indicator applied, is just how much more frequently than it should be)

I've now followed your suggestion and tested the charts with the indicator set to the relevant body size, and can see the last couple of weeks or have been quiet in terms of valid signals. One exception though was usdcad, which I have set to candle size of 80. I laid the indicator on the chart and can see a bullish signal around the 16th of september, but no trade was taken. Could you please take a look?
