Hi Rockypoint,
Hope all is well. Been reading through and sparked my interest in learning about futures and trading. Can you recommend any books on futures trading?
Is it best to to stick to the currency indices and the majors such eg Nasdaq, Dow Jones, S&P? I still trade using your ichimoku system from a previous thread using a five minute time frame. Any info/adviice much appreciated.

Cheers.

Came across a thread over the weekend called The Ichimkou Dow and S&P Sytem and reccomend taking a look seems to be a nice solid system.

Hi RP,
Interesting. The person who did not make the grade, is he that guy you said lacked discipline? If he is, so he kept on breaking rules? What do you think is the real cause of missing out? Just discipline or something deeper psychologically?

Pretty much a combination of both more the discipline. But he seemed to get it for a couple of days then throw it away, one of the ladies said he know at school for being super macho. So maybe he was more about attitude than results? Who knows, I'm no shrink.

Hello, long time no see...Rocky is in the good spirits..my trade today based on breakout 5 min USD30 Futures mt5..I only trade index futures now..

Someone asked what professional and successful traders make and how to build to a larger account .. I always shoot for 10% a month with no more then 5% DD, 2 lots on Dow 30 Index futures per each $30,000 in equity, adding 1 lot per each $15,000 in profits.

Took my students out for lunch today, they did great this week. This restaurant owner who's a friend of my wife wound up feeding them no charge and I paid the bar tab. A little day drinking ,buckets of Indio and a bottle of Don Julio 70. Another friend who owns a shuttle company drove everyone there and home. Fun had by all.

{quote} RP, perhaps when you can, please show us how you trade options (here or in a new thread). I would expect your options trades are just as successful as these futures trades; with the approach probably a little bit more complicated due to characteristics associated with options. Nice to learn that from your experience. Thanks. ~ Bill

Bill, just one comment on trading options. You can do plain vanilla buy calls for longs, buy puts for shorts by day trading the current weekly at-the-money option for stocks with good volatility and liquidity characteristics. Base your option entry on the closest put or call price closest to where you would enter the stock. Two really good stocks to follow for weekly options are TSLA and MRNA. I would recommend sim trading these with 100 shares to get the feel for how they move. For every $1000 you can generate on each daytrading the stock with 100 shares, you can expect to make about the same if you trade 2 options ATM.

On Thursdays and Fridays, when the ATM option is much cheaper, it's common to see 100-300% return moves in trends. Usually, it's going to be within the first 90 mins of regular trading hours (i.e., 9:30 - 11:00 AM EST). Last Friday's (Sept 10) MRNA trends went for 3 back-to-back 100% max possible returns in a row followed by a 50% max possible return. That roughly equated to a $500 ATM per option position returning $500 3x in a row and returning $250 ATM per option position on the 4th.

We had a good day trading the ES nice move down nea NY open followed by a pullback then a trend continuation with a clear entry after pullback for 2 nice trades. My students gave some back by trading the YM which had some jumpy moves.

Another good day with the ES and YM for me and my students. With large wins on both my students trading the elder impulse, while I traded the Williams percent R and the Dow & SP Ichimoku system they all worked great. Bottom line is when you get consistent PA seems likie everything works.

Hey Rocky, a question now you have gone down a different indicator path with your students. In relation to the style of PA trading you taught for over a year in this thread, would you still match this PA with the Williams % R and Sar crossover?
Good Trading

Hello Rocky.

I have a question, i have adopted this still of trading and first it has gone quite well, but lately the market doesn't seem to have ANY good follow through, i was just wondering how do you filter throug this kind of market conditions is there something that can help us see when the cfds will actually move?

Thank you!

Sorry I haven't been around lately. First update on my students out of 15, 9 were able to become funded traders. All 9 have been profitable so far averaging about $100 a day. 6 of the 9 were women. There were 8 men and 7 women total who I taught. Basically the women showed way more discipline following money management rules and trading plan.
I've been a little overwhelmed latley, since my vaccinated wife got a bad case of covid delta variant. Just no time for forex factory.
Wife seems to have turned the corner last couple of days. So maybe things normalize a little.

Stay safe Rocky. I wish Mrs Rocky a speedy recovery. I guess it would have been worse if unvaccinated.
Good Trading
