what works and what doesnt?
especially the readiness of new arrivals to see things not work 98%.
Over the last 10 years I have been testing and found something that is regularly up and running.
for almost ten years, I've only found one strategy that really works.
so only patience and perseverance.

This is a trade I took... I saw gbp was being bought once London opened. But didn't want to chase a move. I waited for price to come back to where I thought the buyers were and I could control my risk. price came back and I got the entry i was looking for. Right where the buyers steeped in last time. I got 11 pips in 4 mins.. And was out before data was released. I took profit at apex top/ support resistance. I then shot my self up with some insulin, took a shower, and had a few shots of whiskey. {image} Ps. "Low vol move" means low volatility (small...

A simple little trade I have found to be nearly always profitable for both stocks and currency is this:

If the entire body of a candle is outside the lower or upper Bollinger Band, it will move back in rather quickly. So if the entire body of the candle is outside the lower BB, I place a trade at the beginning of the next candle expecting the price to go higher. If the entire body of the candle is outside the upper BB, I place a trade at the beginning of the next candle expecting price to go down. It doesn't matter if the candle that is outside the BB is a red or a green candle, price nearly always moves back into the BB, and often to the mid-BB (21EMA equivalent). I only use this on 30min and higher charts for currency and daily and higher for stocks/indexes.

Naturally, you have to take into considerations the spreads and the distances to the 5/10EMA and mid-BB, but this is normally a little no brainer trade for 10-50 pips, depending on time frame.

Note: As you can tell, I use 5MA, 10EMA and BB on my charts.

Hi MM, would you tell us little bit more about your trading? What's your preferred money management strategy (still 2 lots on 2.5k), what pairs you watch? How you monitor them? etc etc,
Thanks.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't,you're right. H.F.

Sorry, Simply-Me, I just saw your post. To be honest, since the Dodd-Frank Act repatriated all US residents back to US forex companies and limited the leverage to a max of 50:1, I seldom trade currency any more. I have a couple of accounts with some off-shore time companies in order to trade the higher leverage, but I have had difficulty getting money from one, so I am a little disillusioned with forex at the time.

I am focused almost entirely on stock/index options now. I still trade forex, but more to keep my skill up than making money like before. I can't see putting $50K in an account overseas and having difficulty getting money out.

But, if you PM me, I'll let you now what works for me with forex.....

I have done backtests of multiple systems trying to find what works and what doesn't work. The one thing I found is market likes to be efficient and doesn't like quick moves which are highly inefficient. Market likes to range 75% of the time So these quick inefficient moves often get faded right back into range. This is what my research has shown. If you have other research consisting of 1000 back tests in all market conditions please share! I'm looking for statistical proof of what works and what doesn't. Please post any research of 1000+ backtests...

bloodpoodle, I must say, you are the only person on this forum that is truly giving the best insight and advice there could possibly be. I cannot say I've read any of your posts or threads that didn't make sense. A few things of course are from your point of view which from my point of view are not necessarily the case but that's because we're looking in different directions on that particular thing so we have different starting views to begin with.

I hope you keep posting. To keep things going on this thread, I've learned a few things that work and don't work. I can share here but only if it's alright because I don't want to SPAM your thread. The more we all share, the better overall. Of course most here will just be a leech or a tapeworm and never share, but some will take that knowledge, learn a little bit themselves, and then share which is better for all of us while we're on this earth for this short time.

To start with, a picture is worth a thousand words. I've put up on display what works on my TEs. See what you can figure out, ask questions, I'll answer them.

I think simplicity is key. The idea that some can analyse complex strategies each day is too difficult. But if you have a simple repeatable strategy it'll work much better

I agree. On my end anyway, any kind of subjective technical analysis is just not consistent. The goal is consistency. If it's not consistent at least 9 out of 10 times, it's not worth it. I scrap or make adjustments.
