Here is a good pair to follow. A bearish Hidden Divergence pattern is developing on the Daily chart at a strong resistance level, and at the same time we see a bearish Regular Divergence on the 4HR chart. We need to be patient though, as the opportunity can vanish any time.

I analyze the past week activities as I do most weekends. Here is a recent HD pattern on the Monthly chart that generated many winning opportunities using a Cost Averaging approach:

 

  1. We can clearly see the pattern with the MACD indicator. I marked with a bold vertical line the point when the pattern reached a peak. This is when I switch to a lower timeframe to wait for a trigger signal.

  1. On the weekly chart, I wait for MACD to cross the zero line. I marked that moment with a red vertical line. We can decide to enter a short trade or take it as the start of a Trading Zone. I prefer that option on high timeframes in order to lower the risk on each trade. Then I switch to a much lower timeframe for short entry signals.

  1. On the 4HR chart, the red vertical lines show all entry opportunities in the Trading Zones when MACD crosses the zero line downwards. Each but one gave either a breakeven result or a 50-100 pip gain.

Hi jusiur,
I still consider currency strength in my analysis as an important tool to use. Apart from calculating the strength in an Excel sheet like in Links 1 and 2, there are other ways of doing it. Look at link 3 and 4:

Another technique I use more often now is to simply to look at where MACD is in relation to its zero line on higher timeframes. If I spot a long HD pattern on a chart, I look at the 2 next higher timeframes to confirm that MACD is positive on both. If this is the case, I am pretty sure that the first currency of the pair is among the strongest ones and the second among the weakest ones. Reverse for short signals. It is the same principle used in Link4. During my weekend analysis on the 28 main currency pairs, I like to use Link4 to see what is the situation about strength and weakness and on what pairs to put more attention on at the start of the week.
