Hi mate, this is great news, i have read this whole thread and i really like the idea of it, do you mind sharing some more info as to how you are using it to profit ?...i.e. are you using lower to higher timframes to trade it ?...4HR - 1HR...or 1HR - 15MIN ??.....some examples and screenshots would be awesome. Thanks!

I scalp DAX mostly. I check 30M for setup and execute on 5M chart. Mindful of S&R levels as those can play around.

I exit and take loss when reverse set up comes. Profits I trail stop.

If you like this method on Forex, you will love it on the US E-mini futures. The Nasdaq e-mini (symbol NQ) moves so well that a 4th bar close in the right direction on the 15 sec, 30 sec and 1 min charts is enough to take the trade the majority of the time. For sure, it's a discretionary decision. If the price action is fast, I wouldn't personally wait. If it's choppy, you do (i.e., wait for the 4th bar high/low to be crossed instead of the close of the 4th bar above/below its high/low...long/short signal, respectively). For a 5 min and up timeframe, daz's regular rules apply.

An alternative product to trade if your budget just isn't there yet is to trade the NQ micro e-mini futures. It trades at 1/10th the price move of an e-mini contract. So, 1 pt = $2 USD vs $20 USD.

This method should be easily adaptable to a semi-auto trade entry on faster timeframes. That is, when you see the price action setting up, press a button to enter a trade on the next signal. I like this approach much better than full auto because you have the human element of making the decision to take the trade combined with the speed of the computer to take the precise entry point.

I don't know what the code you wrote does but it's nothing like as described in the video, so my answer is, NO, you do not understand the "rules".

You didn't even share a chart to show it, that's a pretty poor effort IMHO.

Here they are:

Buy Signal
(A) The CLOSE of the current bar (1) must be higher than the HIGH of the previous bar (2)
(B) The CLOSE on this bar (1) must be higher than the HIGH of the bar three bars back (4)
(C) When those conditions are met, we have a BUY SIGNAL

Sell Signal
(A) The CLOSE of the current bar (1) must be lower than the LOW of the previous bar (2)
(B) The CLOSE on this bar (1) must be lower than the LOW of the bar three bars back (4)
(C) When those conditions are met, we have a SELL SIGNAL

Tom clearly steps through the chart bar by bar, there are NOT a lot of elements as you claim. Also, as he says, there is the signal, what you do with it is up to you.

What I like about it is, it is not just 1 signal and you missed it, it repeats as long as the criteria are met. In the video, he speaks of how professional traders add on.

Here is the NZDJPY last Thursday and Friday, short signals one day, long signals the next.

I have been to London and I reckon that is an insult to the maps of the underground, which can be read easily.

He said the charts were simple but they are not IMHO.

This is the one I used for a while back when I was interested in this 4-bar pattern idea. You can see some of the results of my testing at https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/...0#post12858200. Note that it looks better than it actually is because the indicator requires a bar 3 break to close after the break before signalling. It is therefore quite laggy.

Then I made another one that doesn't depend on as many rules - it just highlights every break. No alerts. I make no warranties about quality. I'm a mediocre coder and I was even worse back then.

I no longer trade with patterns. The market is a pattern-eraser.

still working like a charm if you stop with trying to over complicate life and worry about indicators and EAs and rubbish. read the opening post again and get on with it.
