CoT data (Futures) is issued every Friday (3:30 PM EST) wherein the consolidated data is from Tuesday to Tuesday only. The three days before the release date are not included. It means there is a three-day lag between the report and the actual positioning of traders. This is an eternity by short-term investing standards, and by the time the new report is issued, it has already missed a large amount of trading activity. Think of it as illegal insider information received early by Michael Corleone (CFTC) but then he shared it only to the public after three days. ; )─

The CoT data is an essential tool for gauging current and future sentiment in the Futures or Forex market. It is highly advisable not to use CoT data alone when it comes to your trading decision. For me, the report is not designed as a market entry tool, because the market can be near-term bullish in a long-term downtrend. Although, it can be used to confirm the mid/long term fundamental bias in a given market.

Though there is never one report─data/information or tool that can give you certainty about where prices are headed in the future, the CoT data does allow the small investors a way to see what larger traders are doing and to possibly position their positions accordingly. Such as, if there is a large manage money shorts interest in EUR Futures, that is often an indication that a rally may be coming because the market is overly pessimistic and saturated with shorts - so you may want to take a long position (on normal market conditions).


Futures data offer a proxy for volume but represent only a small fraction of the currency market. Also, inter-market relationships govern currency price action.

Hi Guys,
I managed to get out at break-even with my buy trades. I am getting subtle bearish hints from a 4hr perspective and have entered a sell trade with a 25 pip stop and could add more with the retrace towards my daily pivot at 1.21460. A break of this little ascending trend line could give Eu a nice bit of impetus.

Evening traders,
I’ve looked at CME’s Vol2Vol expected on EUR/USD they show a high call volume (1,265 calls/ 124puts) for the week. Though their open interest profile shows a high put volume @1.2150 and even higher @1.2100 & 1.2075. Conversely their Call volume is high @ 1.2175. I don’t know exactly how to reconcile the data...lol I’m going long, for better or for worst, preferably the latter.

Morning guys .. Bears are really in charge of the market for the week, despite the strong support levels they stand to face on the way.. We currently have a rising wedge and a rising channel on daily, which I expect us to break below today.. I think we will see 1.1203 this week...

I said this on another thread, but actually...I think it bears repeating:

There's a genuine ugliness to unwarranted cockiness. The fact is, nobody knows with absolute certainty. Trading will at some point humble everyone. You won’t win all the time, so yes…enjoy it while you’re profitable, or your system pans out. But maybe consider the fact that you’ll be on the other side at some point before churning out the braggadocios posts. This applies to all of us.

EURUSD Buys - had a bad day yesterday at -4%, hoping to recoup today :-). I think this initial bear move is to just get them excited, i am long for the day.

Not sure about a short term, but given the direction of current administration we will see a EU go up in near time.
My reasons:
Job cuts due to oil/gas pipelines closures
Expansions of govt spending
Lack of planning of job creation
Little to no response to violent protests of violent activists
Covid response is nothing but excuses

Sadly for me, probably by the end of the year we will see EU in 1.50 range. I am sustaining my long position.
