What you describe in post #19 is literally a renko chart.

I am familiar to renko bar which is based on price movement, but the bar chart what I described on #post 19 is different from renko bar.

in this situation, price quantity bar formed three more bars, the forth bar is forming, however, renko bar still formed TWO bars.

the crucial diffrence is renko bar did not consider procedure, it only care open and close regardless of price hove up and down many times within the given setting, though it is based on price movement. because of this ,it will lose some detailed price retracement. so I find a improvment version of it

I see, what you describe now sounds like "Range Bars".

the defination of range bar hide one rule that almost all of RB traders ignore. if keep the height(axis y) of pips, the width(axis x) of the bar have to be changed.

left range bar(abcd) and right range bar (efgh), right range bar has retracement segment ae. you will see there no problem according to the defination of range bar. but you should realize the close price of the left bar is point a, and naturally the open price of right bar is also point a. from a to e,j, would produce the width of ej ,because axis x has linear proportion relationship with axis y. traditional range bar lost the bar(aeji).
if you could not understand, and another method could convince you. please see
the picture 2 and picute 3.

if you keep the height of range, the width of the bar changed. unfortuanally, all the platform like mt4,ninja,etc does not support width-changed bar.
so , the price quantity bar (which I named it on #post 19) is the only way to be available. please see picture 5, keep the width(axis x ) and the height(axis y) will changed that platform support.

range bar seemed to be black box like renko bar.

A tick chart where you can define the number of ticks in each bar. Similar to the one Mathtrader refered to in his post (#16).

but the tick of tick chart does not respond to the minimum pip of price movement, right?
one tick(tick chart) only a trade,1 tick may move 1 pip ,maybe 3 pips ,maybe 4 pips.etc

the bar chart is tick chart screenshot from the platform, and setting=1
a bar->b bar->c bar->d bar->e bar->f bar ....... is 1 tick
a->b move 1 pip (because 1.36778->1.36779)
b->c 1 pip
c->d 2 pips
d->e 2 pips
e->f 8 pips (because 1.36780->1.36772)
tick chart is different frome price quantity bar. tick chart need to be processed. for example , e->f should be split 8 bars to meet the number unit of price movement
