What makes a trading system valuable?

Alright, let's discuss.

What are the most important things you look at when deciding to use a trading system? ROI? Track record? Drawdown? Costs? Popularity? Whether it is automated?

If there is a trading system with a very short history but good ROI, would it interest you?

This should be in "Trading Discussion". Clearly, it isn't itself a trading system.

(Why do so many of your posts give the impression that you're here to self-promote and/or sell something?)
I like only automated systems. Manual trading is a waste of time. Manual trading = random trading.

What everyone really wants is a fully automated high frequency system with very low risk and very high return.
In reality such system does not exist. The market is too efficient and you have to make compromises.

So the best system is the one you can't get.

Well, if you wish to know, I have been looking at the Commercial section just for fun and it seems to be that the site has many many scams. Outside of FF, even on MQL5, I see so many accounts with supposedly over hundreds of ROI that allows people to copy them for 30 USD a month, lmao. Seems to me that the forex communities are 80% filled with scammers trying to get a buck. Sad.

Hence, I'm trying to find out why would people keep falling prey to trading systems that look good but doesn't work. I'm considering on the first part at the moment, hence this thread.

There's a growing culture of price gauging, greed, forceful self-promotion etc etc and the dreaded word "help". EVERYONE wants to "help". Seems to be the new sexy word to lure unsuspecting naïve people.

Once you understand what people are doing, however, you can spot it very very easily. In my opinion, they should go to prison for a few months and pay a large fine.

The amazing thing is, the scammers are not even really trying and the red flag simply jumps out-yet naive people continue to fall for it.

Take a look at the commercial section. You have people trying to sell stuff without even loading up a TE here to prove their credibility. Then you also have geniuses like this (https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/post/13239126#post13239126) who claims he has a system that returns 75,000% but it is too taxing and tiring so he wants to exchange it for another system that works.

As far as systems go, it has been proven mathematically that markets are random. It is not possible to ever have a system that has an "edge". The only thing you can control in the markets is how much you can lose. Now, it is possible to have an edge on how much you can lose but it's not possible to have an "edge" on how much you can win.

If this was true....millionsssssssssss of people would be millionaires.

What do people look for in a system ? They probably look for absolutely everything haha, may be even if it can make them breakfast too.

Oh yeah absolutely, research institutions spend billions on checking journals to make sure results are reliable of science. They're reliable because they're thoroughly checked, double checked and the experiments are repeated for reliability not to mention further hoops to make it more robust. Very expensive processes to make sure statements/hypothesis are factual.

You come to the internet, lmao, the free world wide web, lmao, and one should expect the same level of fact checking scrutiny ? It's lower than the stuff on the bottom of my shoe. I would never trust anything i read or see on the internet.
I think that some of the best systems are legit and not all are scams. But there are too many factors and sometimes luck can play big role in the outcome.
People often can misunderstand luck and skill.
Is it possible to make 100 000% in 1 year? Of course it is. But the probability is very low. And yet out of all the traders in the world someone will get lucky.
If you think about it, all it takes is a relatively small sequence of winning trades with very high leverage.
This is proven mathematically with simulations and random data. Just like in the casinos once in awhile someone wins the jackpot and becomes the center of attention.. It's normal part of the game.
This is what attracts people to the game. If nobody wins, people will stop playing.
For me, it would be strategies with less than a 10% drawdown and more than a 15% return.

Semi-automated and automated systems preferably as they free up a lot of time.

Not interested in trading systems with a short history. It's got to be sustainable.

These systems are out there but are not revealed in full detail. But if you're like me and like doing heavy research you will find some golden nuggets and start connecting the dots.
Give the market little, Aim to take a lot!
