That was a poor choice of words....I shouldn't call nonsense something as revered as Gann just because I personally see many flaws relative to Forex trading. Where are his loyal followers when it come time to post a real live trade???.....sorry, sadly lacking in this forum at least....my point is trading does not have to have the stars or planets aligned, analysis does not need to start 10 years ago, just a few simple tools (from Gann) work splendidly in Forex, like reversion to the mean, measured moves, simple squaring and so on.....

no such video exists.....this is just my personal view of simplicity in trading Forex, making it less complicated...focus on price and expected reversals, or continuatiions

It is right that if you want to use Gann tools and methods in your ttrading you have to invest some time and a few dollars.

I use Gann tools and methodologies since 1998. The more I think about him and them , the more I think that Gann was like us a normal guy.

My analysis and feeling is that Gann has tested tons of tools and methodologies. Gann had a lot of ideas about trading. Gann in his courses and writings at the time taught his customers principles which are today obvious and routine : use a stop loss, money management, do not invest more than x% of your capital on one market, observe repetitive price patterns ( double and triple tops and bottoms), and time patterns (cycles) etc

all that at the time was new, original, modern . Now it is just obvious. that is the price of success and part of Gann legacy

All his methods are in his books, you don't have to buy stuff from ant Gann Guru.
Those who have found his forecasting methods don't sell courses and those who didn't make moolah by riding Gann Gravy train

Let's come back to Gann SIMPLE tools : and the most known the Gann Angles

"Gann Angles" was published in 1935 .

It is the ONLY Gann technical tool where Gann spends 40 pages to develop and explain almost exhaustively the structure of the tool.

Notice that at the time Gann did not offer us some real trading examples. As I have written between 1935 date of the publication and 1955, date of Gann's death, Gann never published a Chart showing the now famous "Gann Angles" and never offered us an analysis or a trade description where "Gann Angles" are the main tool used.

Note that the paper describing the "Gann Angles" was published under the Title "The Basis of my Forecasting Method"

My point has been missed entirely........................i know the angles work, i know squaring works, i know the investment in time necessary to even begin to understand some of his methods but what i am trying to say is all of it fails if your charting program is so basic that you cannot count on accuracy. That is why you seldom ever see anyone post in this forum trades that work out, or trades based on a Gann concept from start to finish.....and that means few if any are using some of the more complicated analyses taught by Gann. I will leave now...obviously a nerve has been touched.....but i still dont see any trades based on the methods taught so I hold my opinion.....for what its worth, and that is not much...lol

Hi guys, it’s been a while since I checked in. Glad the thread is still going strong. Geometric trading does predict the markets. Meanwhile I still have been trading Bitcoin and Alt Coins. My trades have never been better. I wish all of the best of trading. It’s pretty obvious that many of you have learned enough to make money via the procedures mentioned in this thread. The Psychology of the trade comes next and is the last phase. Mark Douglas does a great job of revealing how he does it. Stay safe

I totally agree the principals are universal and should be on every trader's radar. no question.....but using some of tools predicting reversal levels based on time and price are so flawed I dont know why we even try to predict such things....and there is a reason I believe and that is...1....his methods are based on Stock Market and Commodity markets that for 100 years opened at 9:30 in the morning and closed at 4:30 daily....it was a time period you could predict with certainty......no Globex, no overnight trading, no options for protection and so on. 2.....News....news was available but not instant...on Monday morning one could get the NY Times or Financial post or similar at time....but that was about it....no flash news, up to the minute releases of profit, growth, no forecasts from analysts, or anything even close to todays information technology. 3....Central Banks, like the Swiss National, or Bank of Japan, who in an instant can move the market 500 pips, bankrupting brokers and traders alike...(I still see traders trading the Swissy crosses and I cringe, knowing their account could be destroyed anytime, without warning) 4 ...Size does matter friends.....volume I mean....when you consider the currency market moves over 5 trillion dollars (yes 5 trillion) every single day of the year means any attempt to predict with accuracy the price at any given point is simply impossible based on an angle or curve or whatever because no one can see what is in the background, who is waiting in the wings for price to move to a certain level triggering a 5 billion dollar trade from a Sovereign fund or Bank, or institution. So, volume not a forecaster of price....it makes a statement, but not a trade-able one.

Anyway, that is my opinion of why some of his tools mean little in this modern world.

Now that is not the end of the story........ price levels are trade-able....price....octave levels,Murray math levels, fib levels, pivot levels, square root levels, historical levels and so on, price at open, price at close today or yesterday, lows, highs, closes, reversion to the mean, envelopes based on formulas and moving averages and so on....so instead of trying to predict turning points, my focus has and always will be what I just stated. New traders, dont waste precious time trying to become a predictor of turning points....haven't met anyone who could do that with any accuracy yet, and I have a ton screen time in my history....but again, it is just my opinion...lol

As per predicting Turning points, I have seen it working and also failing, that I believed was the reason those who teaches such ( like Gann, Jenkins, etc) will always advise to have a stop loss in everything tradable no matter how certain the probable outcome is expected to swing in your favour. Nothing is certain even tradable ''levels''. Nothing is fixed to happen but some past event have a higher probable rate of repeating themselves at certain times.

Agree, that goes without saying, but when your focus is on a predetermined date, one can physiologically focus their need to be correct and mistakes start to happen. And even stops will not protect you against the Swiss National Bank interfering in the natural price flow creating wild swings.

I have have had requests wondering how I divide a recent swing by 8.... instead of answering private messages, I thought I would post here rather than have to send out more replies.....

What I do is reconfigure your fib tool that is standard on your mt4 platform... it is very easy to do....

go to Fib Properties, Fib Levels and configure.....0, 12.5, 25, 37.2, 50, 62.5, 75, 87.5 100 indiscription you can enter whatever you want...numerical, or words.

Key levels of course are 75%, 50%, 25% and so on...you choose.
