Hello Guys,

after one year of trading i think a invested my time badly because i did not studied deeply to build a good knowledge for trading is a sistematic way i tried to implement in a wild way strategies without no great result...
I want to reset all my bad attidude and start over investing in a good learning path.
Out there there are a lot o Nirvana promising couses.
I wish to find a serious path made of real learning, deep studyng and put a lot of effort.
I wish your opinion mates of travel!

Hi paolo, have you tried the forex demo account? Find the best forex strategy in forexfactory and try on your demo account...
Best thing you can do is watching the charts. Most mentors are scam/bs. Register a demo account and track a few instruments on lower timeframes. Most likely you will discover more than what a mentor could/would show you, for free.

I'm fairly new to trading too and it's quite a job wading through information. I've been trying out a few trading systems / methods on a trial and error basis but it's so time consuming. Any advice on what to focus on would be highly appreciated. There are just so many areas to think about: setting up, which indicators and templates to use and then most importantly where to look for a good strategy.

First point to make is that you have made a massive step already in realising you have not started in a good way. This awareness is to your credit. So, what to do next? Well, you now know that just shooting from the hip is not the way forward, you need to learn in a more structured way.

My advice: forget all the courses and don't pay for anything. There is so much of value out there that you can pick up for free. Read widely and try to get a feel of what trading is really about. It's not some magic system, there aren't any, it's about you deciding for yourself what you see in the markets that you can take advantage of.

Take a view of what you think might work. Construct a method around this, it only has to be 3 things: an entry method, an exit strategy to get out once you're in, and a position size calculation to ensure you trade small.

Try it, expect to be useless and wiped out (so demo mode is a good idea!) but learn from what you did wrong. then adjust your method accordingly and try again. Keep on trying in hopefully ever decreasing circles until you actually show a profit. Practise, learn, evaluate, adapt, these are the key building blocks and no course will give this to you. You simply have to go through the process yourself.

Once you can post consistent demo profits and feel you genuinely have an idea what you are doing, try with real money in minimum size. Expect to fail dismally! Consider why this happened and adjust appropriately, much of it may well be mental/emotional rather than process by now. Try again and continue repeating the cycle until you have a solid track record + experience + practice under your belt. Now, finally, you stand a chance. Good luck!

What to focus on depends enormously on what you want. There is no one 'right' way to trade, there are literally thousands, it depends on what suits you.

Look at yourself first. How do you want to trade? Are you a very short term, quick & small move scalper or a long term big trend follower? Or something else? What do you see when you look at the markets that might give you an edge, something to be better than random? These are the questions you must ask yourself.

Pick something that makes sense to you and construct a trading method around it: entry condition, exit rules, and risk management plan. Then try your method in demo and practise, learn, evaluate and adapt appropriately. If you are thoughtful and observant you will eventually get to a method that is profitable and suits you.

So, where to look for a good strategy? Look within would be a good starting point.

Thanks Oldtraderman and everybody in sharing ideas and experience. I agree with you that there are not courses and miracle path. It is a journey you have to custom build. I have a degree in engeneering and even if not young ( 49) i wish to go back and study as when young college boy little stats and math to apply on certain trade or use them to help understand better the scenario of certain strategies or oslillators. Out there there are some good books for newbye and for vet too. Sorry for my bad english. Have a good day of trading mates and thanks again.

Nice to see, you are going to avoid so called paid trading courses! A great decision for sure! Keep focusing on your own path! Happy learning & keep enjoying.
Mentor is a good option for starting over. However, there are lot of free information available in online. YouTube is also a best way to learn trading.
According to me, The best learning method of forex is a demo account. A demo account can help you to learn all the basics of forex practically and perfectly.
There are ways to learn trading but in my opinion, you can never profit from trading if you don't use proper knowledge no matter where you learn trading from. Trading education requires a lot of practice. It is best to go to a mentor. Many things can be learned by learning from the mentor.
Finding a decent strategy is one thing. Having the patience & discipline to execute that strategy successfully is another.

Patience and discipline are the keys. Overconfident will lead to losing money.
