Hey, thanks Doc!

Yes, I have been in and out of the thread over the last month or so and have 'seen' Davit. Didn't realize he was having urgent family matters though. Thank you for letting me know. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Yes, he is a professional, to be sure. I have traded for quite some time but didn't really turn the corner until I started with Pivots. It does appear simple but is really advanced trading. You have a long history with knowing him so I am glad to know your experience. Yes, everyone is stepping forward to lend a hand here on this forum, it is great to see that. Egbert sets a great example, for sure. We all have the opportunity to be leaders here. I will plan to do more in the future as well. All the best and green pips to you!

Hey Dr. John...nice to hear you have recovered and seeing your post. I have to admit weekly pivots taught by Davit is still fundamental to every trade I make....it’s always in the background as I journeyed through some ways to make my entries more precise, and I am very happy with results, although there is always more to learn. I do feel there could be more consideration to market structure as illustrated so many times by Cryptosurf, there is no finer thing in trading than filling ones “basket” with low hanging fruit.

Hope Davit is doing ok, it’s so completely disheartening to witness the verbal garbage that seems to be targeted at the winners in life, it’s unimaginable the lengths losers go to make themselves feel good by tearing others down.

covid19 is still an issue in the markets to some degree, unless of course your selling camping equipment. Think it will add volatility for the time being, but this beast needs to be defeated. We are doing pretty good up here in Canada, but with a great deal of caution and no one is getting too smug not to consider the need to continue with masks, social distancing and hygiene.

Anyway, all the best!
ps... caught this little beauty this morning...notice the chart to the left lol

Hello Swede,

Thanks for your Post. Yes, I am doing much better. Luckily, the new TAVR approach to replace the main heart valve was done only under sedation and local anesthesia on 3-10-2020 and was out of the hospital the next day !

But, I was very sad to hear yesterday that my visit with my primary care doctor was cancelled after he passed away recently after 3 weeks on a ventilator and comatose after contracting the Corona virus helping many patients with this very infection despite the very high risks. And, he was a healthy and strong young doctor who I was so impressed with his medical skills and caring ! I will miss him very much - my doctor and dedicated colleague !

Stay safe all and follow and CDC guidelines ! This threat is a very serious - so please take it as if it was a direct threat to your risk of death or harm of family or friends - as it is for sure this exact issue !

Yours,
John

PS: BTW, I like your charts as it looks like you are analyzing a Pivot Chart and Bollinger wave chart side by side - very interesting. I have to look at this myself. Thanks for sharing !

In my last post I mentioned something about getting my margin back. Well, my margin is growing

So here are my results this week:

You don't need to have a lot of pairs to get profit. Get to know some pairs: majors and crosses. For example I'm watching and analyzing the pairs above + EU, GU and USDX. Together with a good calendar analysis it's becoming easier in time to trade..

For me the week is over. Cheers!
May the Force be with you.

Hello fellow traders,

I think many of you in Canada and USA have OANDA as their broker and though this message is off-topic, it nevertheless may be of interest to many.

A couple of hours ago at 5 p.m. today, August 15, I received a message from OANDA informing me that "A margin closeout has occurred in your account XXXX because the Margin Closeout Percent has reached 100%".

At the close of trading yesterday, on Friday, at 5 p.m. Eastern, total margin used in my trading account stood at around $550 (one sell SPX500USD 0.01 position, hedged by one buy 0.01 position, with a profit/loss balance totaling -$5.10), with available margin substantially (several times) above the margin requirement. The margin requirement shown in the MT4 terminal as of this moment is $31, 161. 40 (yes, thirty one thousand!!! hence a margin closeout). Which means that sometime during NON-TRADING HOURS the margin requirement shot up hundreds of %. Have any of you experienced the same this weekend? Weird...

I sent an email to OANDA support asking for clarifications, it being Saturday no answer so far.
So, what do you make of it?

Will keep you guys posted (if Davit does not mind of course).

{quote} Since I'm American the USD going down is not good for me but fortunately I live outside the US. Helio' statement that all currencies are against the USD is false because currencies move up and down in accordance with economic factors. Most countries took health measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 and although their economies suffered for a while they are mostly recovering. Here in Cyprus there was a 3 months lockdown and that ceased a month ago. Now everything is opened and there is almost no contagion. My country did not do that...

You still agree with yours words that

"Helio' statement that all currencies are against the USD is false because currencies move up and down in accordance with economic factors"

I still think as my post @

when We see how many pips DXY drops after my post

Best regards

Short-term currency values can vary a little bit due to trading but long-term currency values vary due to economic factors. The currencies of Argentina and Lebanon are good examples.

In my analysis on the EUR I went wrong somewhere , I have to figure out what it exactly was..

I was trading EG this week and thought that it could reach 0.9110, but it didn't. It got to 0.9050 - 0.9060 and I hit that several times:

Nice gains though...

And for EC, It is still high on the chart. Sold it several times and still have some trades running.

I'm happy with the results this week, time for BEER
May the Force be with you.

I am expecting volatility this week with a focus on USD, AUD and CAD. Moderate news early in the week, I am not looking for major moves early on but expect possible fireworks with Fed Powells comments on Thursday and the Jackson Hole Symposium

Tuesday: USD Moderate Impact - CB Consumer Confidence forecast to rise from 92.6 to 93.2.
CAD - Moderate News - Gov Council Member Schembri Speaks
AUD - Moderate Impact - Construction work - forecast to decline

Wednesday : USD -Moderate Impact - Core Durable Goods/Durable Goods - both forecast to fall
CAD -Moderate Impact -Gov Council Member Wilkins Speaks
AUD - Capital Expenditure - forecast to decline from -1.6% to -8.2% watching EA for possible bounce off WPP to S38, although I rarely trade away from WPP

Thursday: USD moderate Impact: Prelim GDP and Unemployment are worth watching
CAD - High Impact: Gov Macklem speaks
USD - High Impact: Fed Powell Speaks
ALL - Jackson Hole Symposium Day 1

Friday: USD PCE Price Index
USD Personal Spending - forecast decline
USD - Moderate - Chicago PMI/Revised UofM Sentiment - both aren't forecast to have a big effect but worth watching
GBP - High Impact -Gov Bailey Speaks
ALL - High Impact -Jackson Symposium - Day2

Watching USD for possible further weakening around S38 or S61, then a move back north. Should fundamentals and PA support it. Just a few ideas, no recommendations.

Just got back to trading after a long vacation.

This year I didn't trade during my holiday period and in the end it was the right decision, previous years I took some positions without enough commitment and focus ending up in losing money.

Slowly re-entering the flow, I saw a beautiful setup UC long wasn't able to enter, took a good one shorting GU.

I see this thread is dying, Davit's absence weights a lot, I hope he's alright, with life and trading, It seems only great Egbert and few other fellow traders are grinding pips at full blast.

Yes, completely agree. I personally have taken this as an opportunity to trade in a vacuum of sorts. Finding the balance between my own success as a trader and taking help from Davit and his mentorship. I miss him and his insight, knowledge and experience. I also considered him a trading friend of sorts, even though we never met. I admired how he took so much crap from people on this thread but still wanted to help, and have camaraderie with like minded traders.

Others have spoken about his health as a reason he stepped back. I hope he is well. Best of luck to you too! I will keep on this thread to some degree and post my weekly plan at times. Be well and green pips!
