I love songs that tell stories ... father's day getting here in Brazil. this year will be celebrated on 09 August.


Music composed in 1970 by Cat Stevens for his album "Tea for the Tillerman". The lyrics tell the story of a Russian family, where the son wants to join the revolution, but his father wants him to stay home to work, despite being a story invented by Cat Stevens the song has a lot about his relationship with his father . The song features a lyric resource where the verses are sung by two different people, with different perspectives on the situation.

I guess Cat Stevens wrote this song late 60s, but Rod Stewart version is probably the best.....

A strange chap, but talented none-the-less is having a birthday.....the late Andy Warhol, pop artist and producer, the founder of the Pop Art movement. Produced and managed The Velvet Underground, designed the 1967 Velvet Underground and Nico, 'peeled banana' album cover and The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album cover. Warhol died on 22nd February 1987 after a gall bladder operation.

Although this track is by David Bowie from the great Hunky Dory album, and not Andy Warhol himself, it deserves to be here (imo) because it fits perfectly....even though Andy Warhol himself didn't like this track!!

well somebody likes the Rodster...this will always be my fav...a little biased because when i was a kid my babysitter used to play it all the time and she was the prettiest girl i ever saw at that point in time...if you can count a 5 year old's judgement of beauty anyway...but i digress

oh man...a guilty pleasure of mine for sure...is it the greatest song ever? no... is it musically superior or even comparable to some of the greats? hell no... did it get used in a commercial for listerine back in the early 90's? yessir...yes it did...LOL

Happy Birthday today to the late Herb Reed, bass singer from American vocal group The Platters who had the 1959 UK & US No.1 single 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes'. The Platters were one of the first African-American groups to be accepted as a major chart group and were, for a period of time, the most successful vocal group in the world. Reed died aged 83 on June 4th 2012.
