What confuses me is why do people put so many indicators on charts? What is the actual indicator telling them? Do they even know? Or do they think they know & it's giving them an edge?

Funny just done this an hour ago as I was thinking if grid trading. Will read the thread its an interesting idea especially if you can get a good exit strategy in place.

Although your message is from a few months ago, I just wanted to respond to newbies who haven't seen it yet.
I bought this book long time ago and then made an EA for it. My EA had exactly the same result as one that the author himself sold on his website. The backtesting result was very poor. That was exactly in line with the feedback of the buyers of his EA. The strategy in this book only works in a market that is trending at least 80 percent of the time. Guess what, Forex is trending up to 20 percent of the time. So, at least 80 percent of the time is in range. Do the math ...

As I said a few weeks ago this was something I was going to look at as the next project. It doesn't matter if the market only trends 20% of the time if you use a filter on this I am hoping it will work out. Catch a trend and THEN Buy/Sell at regular amount rather than completed candles etc. I always have thought that if you can catch a trend and THEN go with new orders that don't cost anything i.e. SL= Profit as you build a position . I am going to build an EA to do this so hopefully report back unless I have made so much money I will be sitting on a warm beach somewhere. Travel restrictions obliging .

Hi @cyberdude3, I'm happy to see someone investing time and money in books ...

I just saw that you programmed a lot and you are also interested in testing martingale ideas ...

If you are interested in a small system, please PM me.
I have to do completely different things for two or three weeks, and I am curious whether the thing can work.

Hi SwingMan,
Indeed, I have wasted way too much time with all kinds of strategies that are all basically the same. None could sustain as a systematic strategy.
Frankly I'm only interested in unique yet untried systematic strategies. Money management must certainly play the leading role in them.

You are right and I know the lost time for all kinds of strategies and systems. Forget my posting.
If my time allows me and I find it valid, I may post my unique and systematic system if I have tried it, because it's still untried...
