Dumb and dumber pops to my head when i read crap like this.
One is gonna find another broker because Practice account doesnt work and another one is evoking NFA because of the aforementioned Practice account.

Just found this board and happy to have done so. Getting tougher and tougher to attempt any type of scalping with Oanda as the financing fees are crazy. Having my account based in CAD definitely doesn't help. Swing trading equally as costly and dangerous with widening spreads. Frustrating times.

Oh, c'mon now, stop being so naive. You know as well as I do, the underhand tricks this broker does on LIVE accounts as well. You just keep on keepin' on with Oanda. You calling me dumb is funny, I have 65% of my trading capital sitting in an FDIC insured bank account and no more than 7% at any one broker. I have tighter spreads, better conditions, no FIFO, but, yes, you're right. I AM THE DUMB ONE.lmfao

No i dont have any answers for you. You should go find yourself another broker but be sure to test their demo account first.

Guys, anyone using fxTrade Desktop in OS (Catalina)? I have noticed some FONT issues (hours) in Catalina OS.. It works fine in El Capitan for example, that I have installed in parallel and have installed same/current (I believe) FxTrade ver on both of them... It is nothing serious, it is just funny... Well for sure it might be something with Catalina which has some bugs... that is why I prefer to have separate boots... something proven and something new that has yet to be tested... Not to mention 2 other platforms, WIN10 and Android...

See the somewhat distorted fonts for (displayed hours).. Do not know the reason, can be anything... Just wanted to know if anyone else observed this? And yes, works great in WIN 10 also... The only problems seems to be in Catalina, maybe it will go away when fxtrade or Catalina gets updated...

Also, 10:1 is the lowest LEVERAGE Oanda has? I am looking for something 1:2-5 for certain account/strategy and it looks like there is no option at OANDA or am I missing something? I can selected between 10:1, 20:1, 30:1, 40:1 and 50:1... Do you know if it is possible to enable somewhere between 1:1 and 10:1 ?

Precious metals trading is allowed in the US but only with a margin of 1:1 this is why it's not offered by most brokers including OANDA.
Worse trading CFDs is totally banned in the US.

I have noticed some anomaly/lag in the Practice account about somewhere in the last 2 weeks... In particular I think there was a disconnect (at Practice) so the flatline (chart) appeared during market hours... and then when it was synced again, it appeared as a spike... But should one doesn't have a problem with cross-checking with LIVE account, in parallel, still think Practice account is a very useful tool at least to check the trading at larger numbers, to have the feel how it should look, even though that in FX... % counts.. and if one can make 1 EUR into 2 EUR.. he can make 1mio into 2 mio...

Also there is a forum where you can check for issues... or even ask.. I was looking for that (Practice) anomaly in the forum but it wasn't there at the time tough...

Would like to hear more. I mean yeah I have seen some spikes at opening for example that maybe weren't there at other brokers but this is due to each broker since they might have many (different) pending orders just before open... But other than that... If I find something suspicious, I cross-check with other brokers... But if you do notice manipulated chart, you can earn it (back/more) with arbitrage maybe?

And if someone thinks he got ripped of, he can still talk to support or report the issue... Would like to hear REAL stories of others... I myself, cross-check with other brokers and also from basic charts... even "official" ticks by ticks... just in case... at least at BORDER trades or at spikes, specially at open

Check EURUSD Practice. Data exist:

  1. In D1: from 2016 until today
  2. In H4: data missing in a lot of places, a big f jump is happen from 2013 to 2019 (Back in the future)

OANDA f*** it up, they know it, they hiding, they not inform anyone and they continue to do it until today. WORST broker EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting but I have been trading using OANDA since 2005 and never had any problem … but then I don't bother with demo accounts The day OANDA goes into bankruptcy and cost you $46,000 like my first forex broker did you will have the right to state that it's the worst broker ever

Hahaha.

Nice new margin requirements. Did this only hit Canadians? Crazy massive jump in margin requirements. Many traders will probably wake up in margin calls... I think it was about $160 or so to buy 1 uspx 500 and now it is $535

I have never seen anything like this before.....Extremely hard to make any money.... However very small chance of getting overmargined. Hope this doesnt last long. You need a zillion dollars to trade now...

I used to work at OANDA. Big global broker but biggest in the USA. Their USA business is what bankrolls the rest of the markets. They definitely have integrity and are very tech focused, but leverage is low and spreads are not very competitive.

As a professional trader I get a margin of 1:100 for everything. I'm mostly a D1 chart trader but don't mind the high spreads and swaps at all because a broker that doesn't make good money cannot offer good service and might not be around for a long time.

I don't think this is comparable.. For example.. I was talking that you can start the trade with 1 UNIT (in fxTrade at least; different in their MT4...)... which would cost you 0.02 cents to open, assuming leverage 50:1... And that it means it doesn't cost you for open open but it is what you would need to "invest" to HAVE 1 UNIT position (you can still track the changes - in percentages and ignore the absolute numbers)... and if you get margin called (at 50%)... You will lose 1 cent... Being margin-called at 50% could be almost in the same ballpark as blowing the account (in a single trade).... And basically every "blow-out" or when you HALVE the balance (0.02->0.01) would cost you 1 cent... And If you do that 100 times... It would cost you 1 EUR or 1 USD...
I think it would be very well spent investment... 1EUR for 100 margin-calls... At which point you might re-think your strategy or the market/industry Just my thought man, do what you think is best for you. Just wanted to give you some thoughts... if you want them... totally free.

Leverage is funny.. It is still too high for certain strategies.. For example, as I re-checked their LOWEST possible leverage (for all divisions) is 10:1... which is funny!
And their top leverage for EU division is 30:1 and for US it is 50:1... So it has interesting interval... not good for "Investment Banking" style trading and not good for (ultra) high-risk, (ultra) high-return either... Yeah one can artificially adjust the leverage by going with smaller positions but why pay interest if you have enough capital to fill full position at lower leverage?
Can you afford to take that chance?

I have no clue why there is a problem (with hour fonts as seen below) in Catalina... still hoping some update will solve it.. Either on fxTrade side or OS side... It doesn't bother me that much but I am wondering if there is any other error that I do not see... Hope/think not.

I dont think you understand how leverage works.
You are not paying anything if you are not using leverage, no matter what is selected (10:1 30:1...) in your account settings.
That option only serves to give you maximum leverage that is selected.
So like you said, you just have to: "artificially adjust the leverage by going with smaller positions".

I do not know what LEVERAGE are you after.. but if you are between 10-50... then you could get "play" with very little money... for example at 10:1.. the minimum amount you should have in order to open 1 UNIT is 10 cents... Ok... I tried to show the point, but I guess I failed...
But if you are not after between 10-50:1.. then I do not even see a reason why bother with Oanda at all, real or practice...

The point is, that OANDA is one of the cheapest brokers in terms of minimal money requirement in the market, to play... Brokers that require certain minimal TRADE SIZE... are either forcing you to high leverage or require substantially bigger money. If I didn't explain so simple truths so far,I couldn't do in 500 pages, so I might just well as stop. Would just say that someone should use REAL and PRACTICE, in parallel, just in case if SOMETIMES (very rarely, in my long experience using it) do find some serious anomalies... You could also cross-check with other brokers, charts etc... And then... you can even try REAL... with POCKET change... With 10cents you can open 10:1 position.. with 2cents 50:1.. Now show me other brokers.. what can you do with pocket change? Nothing, or maybe you can at ultra leverage and like throw the money away And all that I wrote is for fxTrade... their MT4 is different... of course... So that would be from me on the subject.
