{quote} You have more to share than what you initially you needed to. I like how you explain scales. IF or someone mentioned that a kink has several parts, and I have tried to observe how price reacted to those levels. However, for some unknown reason, the "doing" of the dissection (I would refer to it as extremely specific) of those levels you've mentioned (which you got from Salivan) has eluded in the past few years (I actually started out looking for m5 MPLs, but due to the disappointments I experienced everytime price broke those levels,...

Just saw your comment about dissecting. Heres how I started to get better at dissecting a flag or kink.

1. Get Sali’s journal. Go through it. Try to deeply understand every post he makes. Ultimately try to create a document of your own that explains Sali’s method. You should be able to give your document to a beginner trader and they should have.l a descent grasp of the concepts. Any sections you can’t explain, means you need to study and practice that more

2. As you get an understanding, refine and test your ideas based on sali’s Trades. Every single trade. Don’t cheat or gloss over, it only hurts you. Apply his method. If you can figure it out now, study more then come back to it later.

I just studied it like I did any college course. In the end you should have every single one of his trades understood and dissected. Notes taken, printed out, in multiple timeframes through scale. It took me 2 full weeks and 100+ hours. At the end I didn’t master it, I just got enough of an understanding to apply it to real trading. I still haven’t master it. I learned a lot of good things, ended up with a mix of sali, if, self control. TJ is better than me w Sali’s method, his post might help if you decide to do this

edit: doing this was a game changer for me. It showed me how I should study, and more importantly, it got me trading profitably consistently for the next months. Ultimately I fell off the wagon and my profits got inconsistent again, but that’s my fault. Studying sali’s Journal like a dissertation finally got me in the right track

Hello to all, I hope everyone is staying safe and well in these strange times.

One small advantage is that it has allowed me to read through this thread at long last or around a third of it, plus backtesting and cross referencing against my charts, there is definitely gold within these posts, which I have learnt alot from,.. up to around 120 pages so far.

I took 2 trades today and both worked out extremely well.. I crudely marked out a few charts and waited to get in on my understanding so far.
Had around a 1:4 on gold and 1:7 on EJ, baby micro lots of course.

Any feedback would be great to see what I have missed.

Ahdat, can you advise where I could read Sali's journal as it looks like I could learn from it.

Edit - reasons for closing trades:
Closed gold as it reached TG1 and it was coming to the end of the day on a friday, happy enough with that.
Closed EJ, as it had engulfed the previous area and was in a bit of a trick zone with a wick to the left - also with it being friday i was trying to be safe and bag pips rather than give them back.

Thank you for the huge pointers!

Where can I find Sali's journal? Is it on FF or a file with RTM journals?

If you can’t find it, it doesn’t have to be sali’s stuff. Just pick someone you like that has a lot of material to study from. Could be IF’s, or Self Controls stuff on this forum. Point is to study/practice a lot, and correctly

In drawing supply and demand zones the distal line is clearly understood since it's the tip/end of the swing point. My issue is drawing the proximal line that completes the demand/supply zone. For the purpose of understanding the RTM way of trading, can someone explain exactly where the proximal line is drawn? Considering that some RBD, DBR zones may consist of one base candle or several base candles. thanks for the help.

I had this question for a long time as it seems extremely subjective.

As explained by Gil in his 5 percenters videos on youtube. I think the ideal way of drawing an analyzing a level is by first understanding what the level is comprised of.

For a CAP on price, or and RBD/DBR I would go usually with the high and low of the basing for the proximal and distal. This is using the principle that there is usually a decision to go Higher or lower by breaking the proximal line on the trade.

The final area within the zone you could draw is the worst/last buyer (if supply) or seller (if demand) that took place before price moved out of the level. - You will see on chart below. (This will also help you find the MPL of a level).

On the flip side, we are essentially delimiting the area of full accumulation and marking the best/last point where an IT could get the best price.

For your one candle levels, I would look in a LTF to find the base, or mark the full candle you believe to be the level.

FOR THE PROXIMAL, some people decide to mark the level at the base of the candles and not the wicks because that represents the bulk of orders in that area, while at the wick we are seeing a small fraction of the levels (remember, each level represents a normal distribution with the majority of transactions in the middle of the range and less as you go out to either leg).

Hope this was helpful!

Please remember to always take this with a grain of salt, I merely express the thoughts and conclusions I have come to from a while of asking the same questions and watching several hours of Sam Seiden, IF, Gil, etc. The most important part is that it makes sense to you!

Thank you Ahdat!

I have been studying and learning a lot about reading price. I started with Sam Seiden and have been focused on RTM for the past year.

Any recommendations for studying and practicing correctly? I think I am well on the theory but on practice is where I am looking to improve greatly.

Any pointers you are comfortable with providing are greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Of course,

Just focus on the highlighted level. The rest is just other drawings I have placed there prior.

Notice that when price exits the proximal, there is a small kink. This is the decision point I am referring to and why I choose to mark them from there.

Oddly a few people mentioned scale to me in the last week. I guess its a sign. Here's an attempt to explain. So conceptually scaling isn't very hard to understand. It makes logical sense. But people are confusing its difficulty with its execution. Basically everything you read in every scale has to be right. If something is off then the whole thing goes to hell and it'll be super frustrating, then you'll be like i dont understand scale. Well you probably do, but your reading was off. more study, more practice. Edit: i just realized some of you might...

hey ahdat, i have been going through your scaling post got some questions if you may on my chart posted
i truly believe that Scaling is of vital importance. God bless and stay safe
