I think that fundamentals and technicals are enough for a retail trader.

You are saying that knowing about order flow, being in the industry and knowing whats going on are the tools to help you become a succesfull trader, but we in this forum are retail traders and we can't have all this information.

Can you share with us more?

The only real FA system is news trading because it is exactely trading in the news. News trading is algotrading, with pretty fast infrastructure and software able to open trades in the right broker, milliseconds matter and the parameters for the divergence from the news expected/forecast must be tuned with a lot of wisdom. News traders change brokers every trade for a lot of reasons I am not going to explain here. And a good trade may happen every 6 months. So - even though Max DD is typically very low - news trading is not viable.

one question I never got answered... Why everybody focuses on reasons why to not get it?
I mean if you get into trading with doubts, you even don't have the base to start getting successful... The first dd comes and your self-doubts are immediately there...

Imagine you go and start your university studies with the book called 10 reasons why you never graduate... I bet you will have a hard life getting through all the exams... ;-)

I think the first problem to solve in a lot of wanna be traders is unrealistic expectations. I learned the hard way to be patient and not try to swing for the fences.

Monitor your performance on a yearly basis atleast. Anything less than that is insignificant. I say this even for day traders like myself who make hundredths of trades a year.

Lastly trading is not a job. That might be the single biggest problem with people. They wanna extract a regular income out of the markets. Well, trading is investing, if you want an income, go get a Job.

Want to leave an example, let's assume you can make 30% a year on average, most won't i promise you that. But let's just assume you can make 30% a year. Unless you have atleast 100,000 usd in your account, you will earn less from trading than working at a regular job.

My solution: if you want to be successful, work your butt off to save that kind of money and then you can consider trading as part-time. Cause I believe you need 200 000 usd upward to make it full time. Or grow your 1000 dollar account slowly but realize it will take you decades of compounding to make it work. If you are in a developed country the latter is what I will go for. Cheers!!

Indeed, considering trading as a source of stable income puts additional pressure on trader if he doesn't fulfil his monthly or weekly goals. It leads to emotional mistakes and they are spiralling quickly into a total loss.

Yeah bottomhigh, you could end up delaying your goals by years. I am sure there are many good traders here who consistently lose money. Cause they can't get out of the emotional necessity to make an income out of the markets. They abandon their strategy when it is not working and go on chasing the holy grail( repeat until broke). No strategy will fulfill your unrealistic goals.

then we have that thing called leverage. with leverage, there is no difference if you have 50k account or 100k account. the thing that matters is the size of your mind.

Here in FF the trader explorer has a strong point few will notice, the leverage auto calculation system
if the trader is willing to gain real cash from trading must consider the leverage
if my account is 500:1, then i would not reach 20:1 to keep surviving in market .
yes true there are few traders i know since i began to trade forex are making $50 to $100 a day with a peace of mind by just considering the leverage that should not exceed 20:1 while there trading strategies are just random.

true 100% and I know two of them here in our region (middle east)
please note that i am new to this industry but i am enjoying the income while i am not in any means doing commercial just retired and staying at home because of corona ,
I consider the passive income of the swap is a possible way to stop losing
so my strategy to make some passive income is by the swap random trades for 3 pairs ( 1 with high +ve swap and two are in -ve swaps)
EU WITH UC AND EMAX, THE COMBINATION IS GREAT IF YOU STICK TO THE RULES OF RANDOM STRATEGY

EMAX UP, THEN UC UP AND EU DOWN
and VICE VERSA is correct

EMAX down, THEN UC down AND EU up
by this i can open so many trades with maximum real achieved leverage of not exceeding 20:1 from my account leverage 500:1.
trades are not exactly randomly but more or less depend on certain levels I use but no further calculations or fundamentals or instruments.

What you say can be true, of course. I am saying technical tools are the only tools we have, but also that there is a tendency to flirt a lot with anything 'appealing' or 'new', while in the end only a few old technical things will always work. So I meant to say that there is no secret in technical tools (our eyes and brain are much more used than computers to curved flat space, and the geometry in charts is just covariant vector fields in coordinates that are not cartesians, everytime some news or event shake it). Basically, our brain will always be more fit to catch PA than computers ever. I am not talking about arbitrage or news trading, of course.

Again, technical tools = derivation of clouds of stops and of right timing to follow those who ignite those clouds.

Technical tools are not = stakes of indicators / candlestick patterns / whatever rule like that.
