No need to take it offline. I have nothing more to add about using BB or other indicators as NONE are needed to locate these patterns. I really don't think Dazjw2311 had a problem with what I shared as HE has not mentioned it, but your right no need to clog up the thread with unnecessary info. While everyone else is busy trying to create addon's & EA's lets you & I trade these patterns & make a few pips. Oh BTW, for what its worth your idea with the BB's is a good idea.

Oh....One more thing. I really don't need a new member (March 2020) telling me when to take something offline.

Is that correct setup ?

No disrespect to Daz, but I think the number of seemingly trivial questions (some might say silly) seeking clarification suggests the thread is missing a clear set of instructions on how to apply the system. So I offer my understanding of the system (gleaned while implementing an indicator for cTrader) as a set of steps in the hope it helps others.

1. Wait for the three bar fractal to appear on the chart

    

   1. Three consecutive bars where the high of bars 1 and 3 is lower than the high of bar 2 (Fractal high), or
   2. Three consecutive bars where the low of bars 1 and 3 is higher than the low of bar 2 (Fractal low)

2. Wait for the next bar to close (bar 4)
   1. For a Fractal high

       

      1. If the high of bar 4 is lower than the high of bar 3 and the low of bar 4 is lower than the low of bar 3 we have a Trigger level
      2. Make a note of the low of bar 4 as your Trigger level

   2. For a Fractal low

       

      1. It the high of bar 4 is higher than the high of bar 3 and the low of bar 4 is higher than the low of bar 3 we have a Trigger level
      2. Make a note of the high of bar 4 as your Trigger level

3. If we have a Trigger level
   1. Switch to the next lower timeframe (H4 -> H1, H1 => M30 etc)
   2. Mark the Trigger level on this chart
   3. On the close of each bar on this chart
   4. For a Fractal high (on the higher timeframe chart)

       

      1. If the current lower timeframe bar closes below the Trigger level
      2. We have a valid short trading opportunity
      3. Make up your mind time

   5. For a Fractal low (on the higher timeframe chart)

       

      1. If the current lower timeframe bar closes above the Trigger level
      2. We have a valid long trading opportunity
      3. Make up your mind time

The indicator I created for cTrader shows that the three bar fractal pattern appears many times on a chart. Equally a Trigger level is identified on the close of bar 4 many times, but the frequency of the lower timeframe producing a trading opportunity is lower and many opportunities are valid and go on to earn pips.

2-3-4- 4 was not broken, but candle2 was taken out - setup invalid for me

Hello Mike! Could you share your indicator for cTrader ?

Took this trade earlier today. Just returned & found my limit hit & out with a few pips. These are everywhere, but it a matter of which ones will work.


I traded this one from the 15M only. Typically use the 5M & 15M.
