Having these circuit breakers preventing a further downswing must carry some other form of cost, doesn't it? It's not as though the ES has a 5% up limit breaker. How can that be considered a true market?

It is + or - 5% mate. So limit applies to upside as well.

the circuit breaker for the DJI, which is 7%, is quite likely to be triggered today as well after the US market opens...

7% circuit breakers on all of them SP500, DOW and NQ is highly likely!
Unless US administration speaks with SA and Russia and sort out the crude oil fight!
