I do not suppose that anyone as spotted that the grid is just rolling up or down a fix number of pips to create the levels take a look at the Gbp Chf then the Gbp Usd

It will run up or down depending on range calculation, period and octive then on a reset via breakout shift 2-4 octive gaps based on same or double octive shift.

The double octive shift means for example, moving from 122 pips to 244 pips which derives from the calculations performed at the time of the breakout of the Trading Frame.

Yes, shrinks or expands with volatility over a given period you just have to look how long it stays within certain levels then you have a breakout type event, hence the bigger the Octave and the longer trading within the levels the more meaningful breakout ?

This is one feature that I like about it, its dynamic on a breakout and as for higher time frames it works better because it takes a 'significant' move to re-adjust the frame.

If you drop down to lower TFs such as M5 and M1 the Grid can reset very often due to the volatility relative to the octives which ofcourse are typically smaller depending on calculations being applied.

I've tested many angles and although different periods can be traded to great effect I still like the P64 because it fits neatly in the middle, not too large and not too short term especially when trading a D1 TF and to top it off look at my trading account, appears to be doing ok.

Will Octaves need to be adjusted for 1 hour or less to 32 if trading Stock index CFDS?

Hi simnz,

There are 3 parameters which a trader can be provided in the Master Octive indicator that can alter the Octive Gaps:

P (Period);
Octive_TF (Chart Time Frame); and
Master_TF (Global Time Frame :: locked)

When trading other symbols it is my recommendation that traders have an idea about:

a) TF;
b) P;
c) points a) and b) relate to likely duration of trades such as short, medium or longer term;
d) targets based on stop loss distance as related to risk across the account.

If the parameters I've mentioned above (not currently available) are altered then traders can perform a simple chart study to determine the appropriateness of the PA across the Master Octive Trading Frame (MOTF) such that it meets their own trading needs.

No point trading within the MOTF if the PA displays as an almost 'flat line'.

A 'flat line' is defined here as PA running across the MOTF within 1 to 2 Octives.

Here is an example of a chart of HK50 CFD using the 'Unlocked indicator' with [P32 | H1]:

This chart is great for trading, look how PA run up to the OPL_8 level, poked into the Upper Extreme zone then put in a Quad Short, an easy trade down to the OPL_4 Central Pivot zone and its probably going to run lower still.

Note 1: Parameters :: MM and StepBack can also be applied but not really needed here.
Note 2: Higher TF Octives with P values can also be shown on any TF such as H1 with W1 Grid or any other variation.

I tend to reject settings that show high frequency of bars that cover more than 2 OctiveGaps.

This is a clear indication to me that a higher Octive should be investigated.

This can be as simple as changing the P value then checking bar ranges within the OctiveGaps.

Simple process but very very important.

Primary preference though is simply D1 TF and P64 for longer term trading and collection of positive swap.

I have my methodology for determining appropriate P's for any given symbol on any given TF especially for intraday trading however, a trader needs to be more familiar with PA techniques and less focused on Quads across lower TFs.

The use of an M5 Quad on an M15 or M30 or H1 TF is where Quads can be very effective but I'll not get into these setups yet since traders here can barely show me a 'correct' D1 Quad setup !

In any case I'll continue to grow the account (if the market agrees) while traders try and catch up.

As a scalper and day-trader i'd like to study better quad and octive settings for lower timeframes

I tend to apply Harmonics, Fibs, S&R zones, key price levels and a few other techniques when manually trading intraday.

Time Frames I use for intraday are M1, M5 and M15 unless trading on MT5 or other platforms then I use any TF up to M15.

My suggestion is for traders who wish to apply Quad patterns intraday that they perform a study of the Quads appearing on their chosen Symbol & TF.

If you could post your preferred Symbol(s) and TF and an annotated chart then perhaps I can provide you with a more functional indicator for your purposes namely , intraday trading as opposed to D1.

Note the zones of resistance on the following chart and where the sellers came in with force on multiple occasions.

These are what I refer to as obstacles to price, likely chance that price may pullback a little or perhaps a lot.

Lets see how price travels over the next day or so since today the market is rather 'undecided', this can also be an issue especially after such a nice bullish push up the chart until Friday.

Still there is plenty of time left to run on todays D1 bar so I'll be monitoring progress closely, although my current risk across the account is low.

I will also take a closer look at potential trade setups (D1) and if nothing appeals either leave it until the next day or place some pending orders at previous trade entry prices (I'll explain this with a chart later if I set pending orders).

Buy Limit order at same entry price as 0.02 lot trade.
Buy Limit order at same entry price as 0.01 lot trade.

Stops between 1 to 2 OGs.

Same target price @ 1.31836 (uniform for every trade on this pair until trader decides to adjust target based on 'new' MOTF, but they do not have too).

Next post will show the updated Buy Limit orders on this 1K account.

Now the completed Buy Limit orders applied using identical trade setup as per original entries.

The 'secondary' entries need not be the same as 'primary' but I've kept them identical here for simplicity sake.

Now all I need is for price to run on down the chart and trigger them, although I do have a 0.03 lot entry active which means some DD.

Should price drop down closer to my trigger levels but appear to reverse and start heading up the chart then I have the option to enter at market and cancel the pending order if I wish.

Note where the stop on the 0.03 entry aligns.

If price decides to run on hard up the chart then my current above price setup will add nicely to the account equity should price get closer to the target.

Notice how a Quad Long developed later in the Lower Extreme zone but I didn't engage ... simply because I was already in a setup.

Provided risk across the account is within the rules then ofcourse another long from the Quad Long signal in the Lower Extreme zone could have been traded but I simply chose not too.

Had I been in plenty of floating profit at the time then I may have added in an additional trade ....

QCS is almost a set and forget type approach but traders will do far better if they monitor their positions, monitor the PA and make logical decisions.

If, we have a Quad Sell tomorrow that breaks 1.2970 I will view it as a Qctave rejection and I will join the seller's from the Feb 3rd candle, will use a 61 pip stop, slightly tempted to sell on the break of Fridays low, again with a 61 pip risk, only doubt I would have, is, I would have liked to see a new high fail before I action this plan ?
