I may have miscounted, but attached screenshots show 73 trades on BB demo (LQD demo, $1000) since 19 JAN. Profit off $18.75. Modest, but pretty damn good in my opinion! I’m sure there are other potential profit variables when transitioning this to a live account, but thought I’d share where this is so far.

How high leverage do you have on that demo-account and which pairs?

Glad your performance as been good! Mine has been as well!

The interesting thing with V4.0 is I have sold a lot less copies then with V3.7. I'm not really sure why this is the case. It may be because of inconsistent results from broker to broker. So far, all the feedback from people using V4.0 has been positive.

I'm considering having V4.0 be the last version of the BlastBands EA. The EA takes a lot of upkeep and work for me. My focus may be moving 100% towards the RMI EA V7 and creating a more streamlined website.

If I were to create another BlastBands version, this would be what I want from it...
1. Easier/faster installation
2. 10+ years positive backtest results.
3. A focus on just 1 pair. Likely the EURUSD or EURJPY.
4. More profit. V4.0 can make 10-15% a month but honestly, people using this EA want more.

The reality is, people want more profit. They want 30-50% a month which is so unrealistic. I don't think I'll release a new version unless I can somehow find a way to achieve those results without blowing everybody's accounts in 1-2 months. It's a VERY tall order. I will try a bit longer but my updates for the BlastBands EA may stop at V4.0.

Leverage is 200:1. It’s trading on all the pairs recommended by Cubby in the instructions.

Not surprising to me, but RMI V7 is trading well in demo as well. I guess my expectations are generally fairly low, so anytime an EA works I’m pretty happy. I think 10-15% is a fair expectation. People that want to get rich off a $200 investment are in the wrong business. Haha

I agree! My expectations are low with pretty much EVERY retail EA. I think most if not all of them being sold are complete garbage. I know this because I've purchased EA's in the past for $500.

You know, I'm not completely innocent though... One of my past BB versions did have a loss. I think it was like V2.0 of the BlastBands EA. One of the reasons I updated it. All updates there after were just updates to improve the EA. Not because it had more losses.

Anyway, I realize what the best EA's and strategies are now. The ones that can withstand the most price against them while being able to stay profitable.

My goal has been to build an EA that profits every day but can withstand 400 or so pips of price against it. What this means is an EA that can turn even the worst trades into profitable ones. In my opinion, the strongest EA's/strategies are those that can turn even the worst trades into break-even or even profitable trades.

For example, we've had only good trades in the past 2 weeks with BB V4.0 with basically 0% draw down. This is ideal trading but we can't get every trade right. When we hit a bad trade, it's important to figure out the best way of turning it profitable or even taking a small loss without hurting the account too much.

I got close with V4.0 but there is still room for improvement.

It's kinda funny though... Right after I want the through in the towel for something, I have a breakthrough! This seems to happen with me quite often for some reason.

Anyway, I've got my coder working on a new version. This one will probably be called BlastBands V4.5. As it stands right now, it will improve upon V4.0. More profit and even longer running back-tests.

You know... I was just thinking about this last week and I have been all over the place with how long I've been trading for. I dug up some old emails from 15 years ago to try to figure this out.

I actually took my first demo account trades back when I was 19 years old! I found a forex signal site back then and took my first demo account trades on MT4. The signals went well in the beginning! I later found out the reason they went well was because I read the signals wrong. I didn't know what "long" and "short" meant and accidentally traded the opposite! haha! Maybe that's why I'm a counter-trend trader now? lol

So it's officially been 15 years since I started trading!

Cubby: I’ve only been following this thread for a few weeks, but I can’t seem to figure out why you’re promoting this as “the best free EA” when you’re clearly not providing it for free. Going back to your original (1st) post. I definitely don’t have any issue with you selling your hard work, but saying that you’re just giving back is a bit of a mixed message.

All said though, appreciate your honesty, candid responses and continuous feedback in this thread. Hope you continue to make improvements

It's a bit of a long story that many already know about here...

I was made into a commercial member after this thread was created. Caused me to work with what I had on forexfactory.

Since I was made into a commercial member, I decided to sell my EA. I still wanted to give back and that's why I made my EA free on demo without an expire date. This is STILL a form of giving back even though it's on demo accounts only. VERY few retail EA's allow free demo account usage. Those that do, typically have an expiration date of 30-60 days. Giving back is still possible even if it's not giving everything you have!

Everybody that has purchased a version since the beginning, get's free indefinite updates! So it doesn't matter what version you purchase. You will always get the latest.

keep in mind...
Leverage at OANDA is only 50:1. This means you don't have a lot of margin to work with. It's recommended in the manual to use at least a $10k account when using 50:1 leverage. $250 could go pretty well for a while but when a bad trade happens, the EA won't have a lot of room (because of margin) to turn that bad trade into a good one.

I know $10k is a lot but it's what's necessary on a 50:1 account for this EA to function properly in the long-term. I would recommend finding a high leverage broker when using smaller account sizes.

Yes! Nice catch!

I accedently started running this account like it was 500:1 leverage which was a big mistake!

It was basically like I was running the account at 10x the recommended 50:1 level risk. Not smart!
It will stay at this lower risk level now.

I started another test account on myfxbook about a month ago that I'll be posting soon. This account is set to 500:1 leverage and will typically make 3-5% a month.
