If you really know how to trade... SPREAD alone might be enough... if it is dynamic, meaning interactively calculated by the broker... because in order to calculate it right, broker has to watch for MANY parameters.. But if you are to look it manually... VOLUME, LIQUIDITY, PART of the WEEK, DAY, BANK HOLIDAYS, high-economic news distance... etc.. would the main one.. and recently... do not ignore the TWEETER statusThat is it... BTW yeah, order-book SEEMS to be some indicator at times.. but...

I think the best indicator is no indicator aka "naked trading" Second best is using SPREAD (if broker is good enough, the volumes, high-impact news etc.. will be built-into it)... Third best is to check Calendar for high-impact news... Also check for Bank Holidays. Volume/Liquidity is also nice because if there is no water how do you know if the pump is good... That is about it... If you know how to trade, read data, research, connect... you can trade on the newspaper, with your pen, while drinking coffee or whatever you are drinking. But if you don't, indicators will just makes you numb and you will se oasis in the desert, known as Fata Morgana (mirage).
Realistically.. If there will be any golden indicator or combination of them, specially some known combination... HF (HighFrequency) computers will pick it up and trade it before your brain will process the input from your eyes... let alone your signal coming to broker/market. Don't even get me started if you are using wireless mouse...
If you are thinking milliseconds, you are a dinosaur...
Also, days of Wall Street (real) trading are long gone, in general... Now their worst fear came to life. The "actual" trading, or most of it, is happening in mocked NJ
Wall Street, investment bank(ers) are good for providing liquidity, filling orders and whatever... But real trading is either done High Frequency style... OR from naked chart, if you have the juice.. Also there are some that prefer to trade it inside
