Respect to anyone helping us noobs, It can be hard enough trying to consume so much information whilst constantly coming across contradicting advice and literature. If anyone is willing to be a mentor of sorts it would be appreciated, or at least a thread specific to it?

just a thought?

Sorry, I was referring to mentoring. I'm lucky enough to have someone at the end of th phone that I can ask about I trading issues or about creating strategies etc but he he doesn't trade forex and uses a different trading style to me. I was just wondering if it were possible for individuals willing to mentor on a more personal level could be accessed from this forum?

thanks

I have a feeling this is a thread noone has posted before. I love helping people. I know what it is like to not have a clue when it comes to know where to start with this forex jargen. If there is anyone that has questions that they feel are too stupid to ask publically, you can PM me. If there is anything that doesn't make sense to you, ask. If I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find it. I come here everyday looking for the "newbie" questions to find someone already ansered them. I love helping people. There have been so many people...

I'm new to forex started in February last year following a tipster, it was going good then the worse happened I lost my entire investment. I've realized the way to prevent this happening again is to fully understand and learn this for myself but I don't know were to start. I've tried going with a broker who said they teach you how to trade but I ended up losing my investment. I need someone who can give me guidance on trading and mentor me on this. Thanks

Hi,

I have started looking into forex about 6 months ago. I have been reading a lot of stuff on the internet and watching a lot of youtube videos.

I have a strategy I have been backtesting for a little while now. How do you guys do your backtesting? I have just been printing out previous charts and marking my entries and whether they are winners or losers. I was wondering if anyone has tips or better ideas for backtesting.

When creating a strategy, are there any good tips to help me with coming up with a strategy? Do you guys use indicators? I see a lot of people on youtube and use only support and resistance lines and not many indicators. I would like to use indicators, any tips to know what would be a good indicator when creating a trading strategy?

{quote} Vono, During my trading, I have found it is very hard to make only 10 pips a day. Don't take that the wrong way. 10 pips to get are simple. Closing a trade at 10 pips is the hard part. You see the positive pips and feel you are right. You let the trade go cause those 10 pips were so easy to get and think it will go to 20 pips. It drops back down to 1 or 2 and instead of closing the trade, you let it go cause it "has" to go back up. Next thing you know, you are down 10 pips or even more. When you are looking to make a trade and only get 10...

Hi,

i have tried some of these online courses and watched hundreds of YouTube videos. They all say different things and contradict each other on where to start and how to trade. I have spent many hours trying to find a good system and I never can. I’m not asking to be spoon fed a system but just a point in the right direction.

Thanks.

I think the idea of demo trading for three months with any strategy you find is the best. But my problem is what strategy to use. When I Google forex strategy I come up with millions of search results that I become confused. I would need help if someone would point me to a good strategy. It has been fun learning and learning, but the most important thing is to practice first with a demo account and then with a live account. I am still looking to get there with a good strategy.

no worries I know the struggle. yes definitely trial and error. I've noticed a big improvement in my trading since giving more attention to overall market structure over price action and indicators, making them secondary . but everyone is different from preferred time frame to what type of MA they prefer. follow as many informational threads as you can. a lot of priceless information floating around

Totally agree with you make the mistakes with fake capital. lots of good strategies online but they may not fit your style, period or trading hours. maybe take what works or what sounds good and put your own twist on it???

True! Everyone has his own trading style, it is quite possible a strategy that works for one person not necessarily will work for another, so its better keep trying instead of falling in the honey trap of paid courses.

Couldn't agree more, Ive been to a few (what I thought would help) seminars and at the end of all of them after they've gone over the basic principles of trading, is a hefty price tag for a course which basically is just there system with a few clever bots thrown in. its very easy to fall victim to believing one possible system is the magic strategy, best to keep an open mind. FF community is by far one of the top informative resources I use personally.
