Yes, you can only get what the market offers to you at that moment, not what you want. Do not trade these events before price has stabilised.
Also, at tickmill you do not have proper limit orders, they are market-on-touch orders, meaning that, after price hits the limit, the order becomes a market order (thus subjected to slippage), which can be dangerous in desolate market conditions, or in general.
