I have recently ditched all my indi's bar one for trend based on a variation of average. There are *foot prints* that are left by brokers moving prices which can be exploited by using price action analysis. These are not the transactions that retail traders are making but explicit moves that can be identified.

Any Indi or Algo concept that is applied to the market can make money. You just have to test for a edge and trade that edge on every signal over a extended period.
Nothing really hard, it’s about execution.

But that edge is probably going to be too small and too time consuming to trade it manually so it’s best done within a Algorithm. If we trade say a moving average strategy using a simple MA strategy that just places a trade when

If bar 1 closes higher than bar 2
If bar 2 closes higher than bar 3
If bar 3 closes higher than bar 4
BUY

Then add a few other features including small take profits, you will find after a 12 month period we may profit no more than between 5-8%.
Not much really but enough to run a Algorithm on this strategy.
If we then consider running another EA on the same account using another crappy Indi, we could end up with another 5-8%.
i hope you get my point here. By running multiple Strategies on one account, we have the chance of making some decent money.
Just lots of small trading edges that compound together for nice profits.

Yeah... been there...done that! It just doesn't work long term (for me). Order flow works under ALL conditions, and ALL time frames because it is the very basis of price movement. The fact that you and others use some formula or mathematic equation to "define" your edge is fine with me because it will eventually give way to the reality of order flow and that is when most traders transfer their money to my account. I either exit just as they are entering or take the other side of their losing trade.

I'm not here to tell you it can't work, but the theme here is what INCREASES probability... simply put knowing and reading the structure of the market.

We are talking about two things here, automation of trading and Discretionary trading. Both are completely different and have nothing in common with each other.
There is so many ways to make money in this game, I see trading records regularly from both retail traders and professional traders who trade in many ways.

ANYTHING CAN WORK WITH CORRECT EXECUTION - JUST SOME WORK BETTER

i am reading i do not know why i see some reply's and having a smile , rickm as a system that suits him and others like ced74 have his system that works for him , if your asking people to give there holygrail to you so whats your motive ,but here i go , here is my holy grail and it works for me learn just one pair any pair know what times that pair moves over the day up and down find the volatility that makes it move whats it is it highs and lows over the month and year , learn what a negative swap is and what it can do to your account , learn what a positive swap does to help your account , with a pair you can work it out like i did over the full year , but people are greedy and do not want to learn ,a lot traders want it given on a plate and steal someones learning with out the hard work ,


ps i use macd and stoch because i like the colors

1.- Ditching "timeframe" based chart, at the beggining i was using range bars (nice change), ended up using renko: miles ahead out of anything out there, plain and simple the BEST way to visualize the price movement in a chart

2.- Learning FOR REAL how to read OHLC (its all there, it literally Speaks o you what its going to do next! dont be lazy and do your job!)

3.- Spot the unbalance pattern and located in the right place in the chart

4.- Stack pending orders with a high % per signal (i go 20% and sometimes more, depends on the moment)



Oh a few more things:

1.- Forget that "discipline" crap: if you can NOT follow some basic rules/thought process before placing a trade then you are too inmature to be doing this in the first place.. not hard at all unless you are a 5 year old spoiled brat or something.. are you one of those?? think about it

2.- Stop with the stupid "risk no more than 2%" thats a crouch for traders that have absolutely NO IDEA wtf its going to happen or how to handle it once a trade its placed!! you will NEVER EVER EVER are going to grow up an account with that aproach period !! (and this is NOT an opinion you can "prove" that on your own easily); again learn to play this game (YES is a "game") and go for the kill unless you are afraid to make money in the first place

learn to do this and kill it once a good oportunity present itself and forget the market the rest of the time !!


thats it... rinse and repeat.. every month

I am with you Havo...I have been trading Renko for 17+ years....Aussi kindly allows me to post on his thread........I Continue to play with the S35 plan.....So simple.
Here is an example and not Cherry Picked ...How hard is this I ask.

People here are pretending they are winners posting all sort of misleading screenshots but in reality, people you come across in FF are 99% losers. In this algo era, long term consistent winners are really rare. Trust me.

EDIT:
There is a popular weekly fibonacci pivot thread in FF. NONE, including OP, of the followers can dare to post live TE. Why?

Regarding Renko chart, do you know how its entry and exit are late? It's just perfect way to blow your account. Want to see how Divergence would react to this strategy....

heispark , this is not the share market this is forex , you do know the difference , i do , the edge is give many times during trading times by people giving live calls with charts , in the sharemarket you keep it to yourself and tell people to buy so you can make money normally the new buyer will buy at the top so we have a difference there is many live accounts with trade explorers or do you not look , as for a audited accounts that cost big money

Forex Factory is a kind of social media platform and is acting like any other social medias… you will not change it, sorry. It is your choice, you take it or leave it. Beginners have little chance to get a goal and it is OK, it is right way, IT HAS TO BE LIKE THIS. END OF THE STORY (some people call this natural selection).

I don't, but I guess that all here have some experience and have moved to another level even if, they are losing, or winning and I think there are many valuable posts here (like, that one that havo did) in this thread that many members share.

I respect all kinds of systems that make money even if, they bust in the end, because this is a way to get knowledge form the market.

I used indicators when I was a starter, quited them and now again I look at them and to other peoples TE's to see where are my mistakes and how I can become better, because something is missing. I hope this something is only the money and I miss just the confidence.
