Hello
I have laptop 3.2 Ghz I-7 Dual core processor, 16 Gb Ram. SSD 500 GB

just Backtesting one EA using the MT4 Backtesting tool, (Open prices, 1 minute Frame, for 1 year) No stealth TP, or Sl. Visual mode is unchecked. Enough history data was downloaded. And it is taking over 8 days now!! Question, is it normal? And how to accelerate that? I would buy a faster desktop if it is necessary butI am not sure what would be best choice since I read that MT4 is very anal regarding processor( no of threads, doesn’t matter how many cores, etc)

sounds like you have problems in your EA
It can take time to run extensive backtests, but what you describe leads me to think that your code is not working as expected.
look at the log files and journal entries and see if you can spot any issues.
try running for a week rather than a year and see what results you get

You are absolutely right.. I find that error in the Journal

You need to rewrite your EA. Backtesting one year M1 on open prices should not take longer than 1-3 minutes.

Post your code, otherwise no one can help you.

i agree, if your EA doesn't use indicators with high processing requirements, then it should be faster.
also sometimes when you set the parameters wrong in the iCustom function, it can slow the BT down tremendously.

also check the logs regularly and set ASSERTS in your code
