found strength in early September from thawing US-China trade developments

1. a bounce in iron ore prices
2. and large resource company dividend payments

But 0.6900 did not quite give way before the resources-linked support faded.

1. Pressure was amplified by the 12-month high in Australia's unemployment rate, shifting market pricing towards an October RBA rate cut.
2. Delivery of this cut and a likely ongoing easing bias should keep a lid on AUD/USD rallies multi-week.
3. We also do not expect a major US-China trade breakthrough in October.

an overhang of spec short A$ positioning and our dovish FOMC view should limit the amount of time AUD spends under 0.6700

so what do we expect soon?
For me, this is opportunity, to short it till next month!

2. means markets are likely to remain dovishly positioned for some time
3. In contrast, the Fed is more measured, which means the NZ-US yield spread is likely to weigh on NZD/USD.
4. In addition, slowing global growth and trade wars will be headwinds.
5. All this suggests further downside potential for NZD/USD, with 0.6130 possible over the next few months
